REFRIGERATORS FOR EVERYONE!

2014-05-09 01:15:34 PM
Living hand-to-mouth beats living nothing-to-mouth, so we've got that going for us. Which is nice.

SMALL U.N. FLAGS FOR OTHERS!

great that we're approaching utopia on earth and the end of history and all that but can we please go to space? Pretty please!?

/also my homeland is slowly sinking into the ocean due to global warming so...

2014-05-09 03:19:14 PM
So they plan on relocating everyone in Detroit and Cleveland to where?

2014-05-09 03:20:14 PM
See! This is the PERFECT time to cut all food stamps support! They have refrigerators, surely they don't need us to provide food?

2014-05-09 03:20:31 PM
So the renaming to above average poverty has almost completely fazed in. Nothing different except the name.

2014-05-09 03:20:59 PM
We have more obese people in the world than starving to death people, so defining true poverty that everyone understands is a little more difficult.

2014-05-09 03:21:18 PM
This is good.  Most of humanity has lived in conditions of incredible misery throughout history, so it's nice that it's actually getting better.

2014-05-09 03:21:47 PM
NW Mississippi says you're farking hilarious. That's some serious bullshiat right there; I guess when everyone is nearly equally poor then no one is poor, right?

2014-05-09 03:24:36 PM
This cannot be.  I've been assured over and over and again repeatedly that 0bummer will drive this once great nation straight into the fiery pit of hell, never to recover again, economically, socially, or with the white guys in charge again.

Lies.  Damn lies and statistics.

2014-05-09 03:25:10 PM
Most of them have starved to death. Yay!

2014-05-09 03:25:39 PM
If "all but eliminated" includes "rampant and growing", I believe it.

X-TREME POVERTY!!!

(That's when you have a Mountain Dew logo on your shopping cart.)

2014-05-09 03:27:25 PM
So, their measure of extreme poverty is living on less than $1.25 per day.  I wonder if that accounts for inflation when comparing 1990 to 2010?

2014-05-09 03:28:35 PM
Hurrah mediocre poverty!

We're moving fairly quickly towards renewable energy as our main power source.  Once that happens, the cost of everything will go down fairly dramatically.  Energy scarcity is one of the major limiters in just about every industry, that and clean water, which also becomes much cheaper with abundant electricity.

Extreme poverty is alll but non exisitent in the US.

/to the extreme!

2014-05-09 03:36:51 PM
Um,  Odd Bird, Rigby-Reardon, thespindrifter?

According to TFA, extreme poverty = living on <$1.25/day.

Worldwide, and in just about every country with enough people in extreme poverty to measure statistically, the proportion of people in extreme poverty is decreasing.

The US is not one of those countries. Heck, Thailand isn't one of those countries.

I was at Wal-Mart last week in the line behind an Indian peasant woman and her eight polio stricken children and they were all wearing brand new Air Jordans and they had really expensive sarees and the newest, nicest crutches and wheelchairs.  They had a whole cart filled with steak and lobsters and fenny.  I thought they must have been rich, but then she pulled out an EBT card and STOLE like $1000 of my tax dollars.  Then I saw them get into a brand new Tata tuk-tuk and drive away.  They're probably breaking into song and dance routines on unemployment right now!

Was she on her newest of the new cell 0bammy phone, telling her friends about how she got this great free 0bammy phone and like $20MILLION in medical care for all her crippled kids for free on the MURRICAN TAXPAYER?

Cause she should have been.

Hey, what's 'fenny"....don't know that one.  Nice turn with the cripple kids though!

Extreme poverty is so 90s.  Now it's "radical poverty to the max!"

2014-05-09 03:45:29 PM
So, according to the UN World Bank wealth is trickling down to the poorest of the poor ?

Huh,   who would have thought that.     Soon all the poors will be taken care of, in just a few short years.

Bungee jumping into a gorge while paying 25% APR on the rope rental? That sounds pretty extreme to me.

How does getting anyone out of extreme poverty help while there are still people that make 30x my average wage?  Isn't that the bigger problem?

2014-05-09 03:47:26 PM
This is utter BS.  Yay! freedom of the press.  You can't say what you want anymore, but you sure can still print whatever ridiculous yarn you care to spin with impunity.

But they've earned that money by effectively removing it from the economy, why do you want to hurt job creators by getting that money back in circulation where it might do good.

Being poor in America means you only have one small CRT television set.

With real bullets.
