"I was scared," said Robinson, who added that he'd only seen snakes on Discovery Channel before. "I ain't gonna lie, I was scared."

I can understand being startled if I discovered a snake right next to me, but not scared especially if I spotted it across the room..  Snakes (except maybe anacondas) know humans are too big to eat.

And how can you have grown up never having seen a snake?

Also, there's a big difference between 18 inches and 3-4 feet.

It's South Texas, y'all. Sometimes the wildlife stops in to say "hi". Just be thankful it wasn't a scorpion.

I've been chased by a coachwhip on land, a cottonmouth in water, and have had pygmy rattlers try and come in under my parents' front door - if I can see the snake, I am going to nuke it from orbit 1st, and worry about its grasp of comparative biology 283,837,289th.

Not everyone grows up in the boonies

gfid: Also, there's a big difference between 18 inches and 3-4 feet.

Yes.  18 inches managed to squeeze under my parents' front door more than once.

Blazers find snake in locker room

Like it's the first time World Wide Wes has been in their locker room!

Don't really follow basketball, but got into that exciting Rockets/Trailblazers series. I thought that the blazers were pretty solid, but they are getting blown out by the Spurs.

Are the Spurs just that good? Or were the Rockets that bad?

What local vicious fauna can the Blazers put in the Spurs' lockers? Beaver?

Spurs are deep and good.  The Rockets play a very similar game (defensive ratings and three point numbers very similar) to the Blazers so that made for a fun series.

They certainly played like they were snakebit.

Well the Blazers have been playing like they've all been hit with the Stunner (or maybe Sweet Chin Music, since Shawn Michaels lives there).

The start of many a porno.

It's not like locker rooms generally share outside walls - it'd be pretty damn hard for a snake to get into a locker room naturally. And that's a pretty f*cked up thing to do as an organization. But hey, the Spurs of the past got by on cheap shots and trying to injure guys, it wouldn't be surprising if they tried to kill opponents with poisonous snakes pre-game.

1/10 Nice try.

Its south texas. Animals were here first, they get in all the time. Dont forget Manu straight up stunned a bat in flight at half court during a game

Besides, if you're going to f*ck with someone with local wildlife, a little rattler isn't the way to go. Rattlesnakes are what you get your dogs vaccinated against, and that's about it.

You want to terrify someone with some local flavor? Scorpions are really the way to go. Mindless evil little stinging machines. Plus, for some reason, a wasp-lobster spider tends to freak people out.

Animals were everywhere first. Other stadiums don't seem to have this issue.

When I lived in Kansas, I never saw a scorpion in my living room. When I lived in South Carolina, the veterinarians didn't advertise rattlesnake vaccine. When I lived in Kentucky, there wasn't a colony of 20 million bats in a single cave nearby.

It's South Texas. Nature happens.

Yeah, then league are allowing special rules to let the spur sign Robert Horry midway through the play offs just so he can hip check lillard right out of the stadium.

We are through the looking glass here.

The biggest question is what diabolic plan were the spurs hatching to get the blazers to eat said POISONOUS snake.  So the Blazers would be poisoned by the poisonous snake.

I mean most people would have found a way to sneak in a venomous snake but not the Spurs, pure evil I am telling you. I also bet the lizard people were involved.

But there are local creatures, are there not?

You don't hear about this stuff in other stadiums.

/okay, sometimes you hear about rats in NYC, though not in locker rooms, I don't think

Outdoor sports get interrupted by animals all the time, ESPN loves showing that on TV

You don't hear about it much in Arenas, i'll give you that.  Most arenas are built downtown in most cities.  The AT&T center should have been built downtown near the Alamodome, but the city farked that up majorly.  There is a Golf course directly across the street from the AT&T center and the Salado creek runs right along it.  That creek area is full of creepy crawlies, random rodents, and especially snakes.  There is a paved trail, but wouldn't want to go off the trail or be there at night.

This was taken under the Houston Street bridge less than a block from the AT&T center on that trail.  Doesn't suprise me at all that it happened

Funny thing, the Rockets swept the Spurs in the regular season.  All 3 are good, I suspect it was/ is a matchup thing at work.
