Fark Party
Host: DonWrite
Description: NYC Fark Party Tuesday, June 3rd at Keg 229 by the South Street Seaport. Let's all do some science. Beer science
Date/Time: June 3, 2014 - 07:30 PM (local time)
Party Info: leehouse will be in NYC for a limited time only! If he's good enough for the penguins he's good enough for us.

WHERE: Keg 229 Reservation is under "DON"
http://www.bin220.com/keg-home.aspx
Located downtown by South Street Seaport it has a good beer selection on tap, and great food. I picked it because it's relatively easy to get to from either the east or west sides. I'll reserve a table or two depending on how many are coming.

Yeah, it's a Tuesday night, but what else do you have to do?

Hey, leehouse, did you figure out your transportation issue?

2014-05-08 10:57:58 AM
Oh dear.

2014-05-08 11:01:13 AM
I will be there in spirit.

Hey, Don, wouldn't midtown be easier to get to? Or is that too expensive?

RexTalionis: Hey, Don, wouldn't midtown be easier to get to? Or is that too expensive?

Easy to get to, sure. I like this place though. :) Price wise I think everything is pretty equal. I was thinking of a place that was close to trains if people came into Penn or if they came into Grand Central. And I will likely be coming from Brooklyn, so that's easy too.

They have self serve beer taps.

Yeah I should have a vehicle to use that evening.

You'll be missed for sure, but there's that pinball place near you right? That's going to happen some day for sure.

Oh I just got a coupon for 15% off from them.  I wanted to send it to one of you guys.  I'm not sure if the code is generic or different for every one.

This is totally not a bookmark. Nor should it be construed in any way, shape, or form as interest on my part to attend said event.

It is a Jewish holiday.  I'd be there if it weren't for that.

South Street Seaport is pretty far from both Penn and GC, no?

I suppose it's not respectful to say I can just read those to you and you can still come out, eh?

I may be there, so lock up your kitties!!!

My girlfriend is out of town that week, so I'm in.

I think it is a good choice.  the option of the 1 train all the way home is great if I get tipsy, basically all trains stop there, and I now the area decently well.

Right, right. Good to know; I had no idea what subway service was like down there.

Hopefully I'll be able to make it; we'll see what mrs. qorkfiend has to say.

First we do data collection. We will analyze the results afterward. I don't want to bias the study.

Yes. Fulton St. City Hall is also close, just follow the Brooklyn Bridge toward the water.

It looks like I'm going to be in for this. Now to see if I can get wifey to join in.

I may decide to venture down to the Seaport on my way home to Brooklyn. Is Pier 17 still closed? Haven't been down near there in at least 6 months. Not far too far to stumble back to Wall Street to catch the 4 train when it's time to go home.

Yeah, they are doing a pretty big overhaul from the looks of it. I was down that way on Sunday.

Just had one a little while ago in Midtown. NYC has them all the time.

Yeah, the last one was... March 21.

I'm strongly tempted to show up, if only to put to rest the fears some people seem to have that they know me from somewhere...

Because I'm pretty confident you don't.

My loved ones want me to go -- for reasons known only to them.

So, see you there.

Pier 17 is closed until further notice; the construction looks like it will take a long long time.

Perhaps I can stop in on my way home from work (which usually includes biking right past there). As long as Mrs B. isn't working that is.

I'm going to try to make my first FARK party.  I live in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and my small department of a state legal services agency just moved to Bowling Green area from Madison Square Park area about 3 months ago.  Starting to get comfortable in this area.

Hey, a Jewish lady like me! I knew I liked you! :) Wishing you many mitzvahs in your future, because, why not? :)

I've been on this site for nine years and never attended one of these. I just might this time. :)

My favorite middle eastern spot is there, check out Karam on 4th ave at 86th st.,  It's a little place, but it's been there for years and years. I highly recommend the chicken shwarma, especially if you like garlic. I traveled from NJ to there just last week for no other reason than I had the day off and I wanted some goddamned delicious chicken shwarma.

I finally went in there a couple of months ago and sampled the Shwarma finally. Quite tasty. They get a busy lunch crowd. My favorite Middle Eastern restaurant in Bay Ridge is Tanoreen on Third Avenue. Always get hummus there for my yearly Super Bowl party.

Ugh. On a weekday? I love to go to the city and would love to attend a Fark party. Except I am entirely anti-social. Put me down for a 'maybe' and if some random guy is sitting there not talking to anyone, that'll probably be me.

Yeah, look at the going and maybe thingamabob in the blue line under the party info at the top of the page.

Another neat bell and whistle.
