Could you imagine living into your 30's or 40's on nothing more than borderline starvation amounts of rice, cabbage and maybe once in a long while a little bit of pork?

And then one day you get to chow down on a massive calorie bomb of chocolate, sugar and fat that's in your basic "Snack Pie?"

Oooooh man, I bet that first bite was mind blowing.

A lot of that depends on where you live.  That's probably true of MANY rural best Koreans, but the people in Pyongyang live somewhat comfortable lives, albeit still surrounded by batshiat lunacy.

North Korea is basically one big prison economy.  Just wait for tins of Mackerel to start selling out.

Indeed. And if they have any internet, they could see us tempting them with fun snacks.

Yeah, I thought you had to be pretty well-behaved to get to be in the capital and if you were sort of undesirable, they'd just send you off to the rural areas of Best Korea.

Maybe for regular folks in Pyongyang, it'd be "comfortable but not luxurious amounts of rice, cabbage, and maybe pork once or twice a week."

My God, K-dramas have been confiscated.  Now how will Norks achieve resolution regarding love triangles that spring up between brilliant but cold as ice men, plucky women who endure their contempt, and men from the wrong side of the tracks with savant like abilities that make the other brilliant male lead feel insecure?

As a mission of mercy we should start airdropping K-dramas over North Korea!!  Quickly now, get the B-52's fueled up!!

Choco-Pies are the best. They're like what Moon Pies would be if Moon Pies were actually good.

I wonder how much time it would take to modify an ICBM to deliver a deadly load of moon pies and other sugary goodness?

One summer I worked for Roto-Rooter in Ottawa and was often partnered with this guy from Quebec. Sometimes I'd had over to the dépanneur on my break for a snack and offer to pick something up for him. He would invariably ask for a Pepsi and a Jos Louis. Some days he'd ask for a Demi-Lune, just to mix things up.

It was all I could do not to snerk.

/ the guy's name was Guy

A Pepsi and Jos Louis is the most blatant stereo type you can find for Quebecers.  LOL.

I read somewhere that RC is bottled in Canada. We only make the concentrates and syrups in the South.

There is a Dr pepper/RC/Sun Drop bottler here in my small western Wisconsin city. Been here since the 60's I think.

They're not stealthy. And also it would be pointless, they have choco pies, they're just banned.

Unfortunately, Moon Pies suck. The cake is gummy and the marshmallow is tasteless and the coating is like wax. It's a shame, because I remember them being really good when I was a kid.

Choco Pies are sold at my local Asia Mart and they are the bomb. The cake tastes good with great texture, and the marshmallow and coating are both flavorful. I restrict my buying them to maybe once or twice a year because I can eat an entire box at one sitting. They make great stocking stuffers.
