Even the Mets have won two titles in my lifetime.

If it's any consolation, I'm pretty sure the Leafs are the Cubs of hockey.

The Rangers make it to the playoffs pretty often so they can't be the Mets. Maybe the Rays.

They're going to win a title when the puck goes through the legs of one of their opponents?

If it was not for Vancouver, I'd say the Sharks were the Cubs. This is close enough

I don't think that comparison fits, all I know is hearing them boo Rick Nash all the way up the ice was lovely.  Not dancing on their grave yet though, we've all seen teams come back from 3-1 before.

Zero. For 36.

Don't care if you have a team of legends in the prime of their careers, you go 0-for-36 on the PP, you're not going far in the playoffs, period.

As a fan of both the Rangers and Mets, I don't think this comparison holds water. As others have said, the Rangers are usually in the playoff hunt late in the season and sometimes do pretty well. The Mets are the Mets.

However, if it leads to Henrik Lundqvist rehashing the "I'm Keith Hernandez" bit on, say, The Big Bang Theory or The Walking Dead, I'll roll with it.

Also this.

though this Ranger team will not be joining that fraternity of power play failure cup winners.

Because Vigneault=Schottenheimer.

I agree.  Caveat, I'm a Pens fan.  That said, Hank is doing everything in his power, he's been tremendous this series.  The rest of the Rags... not so much.

You'd think people would notice that when they threw money at Pavel Bure and Eric Lindros ten years back.

Honestly, I saw it as a blur from Wyshinshi's (sp) Twitter feed.

The success of one's franchise is inversely proportional to James Dolan owning your team.

The main reason it doesn't hold water is because 16 of 30 teams in the NHL make the playoffs as opposed to 8 of 30 in MLB

The Rangers may actually be the worst major market sports franchise there is.  1 championship in 73 years.  One less than the Knicks ffs.

Add a trainwreck of Theo Fleury and Wade Redden.  And don't forget they had Bryan Trottier as Head Coach.

The one good thing about the Rangers is that they look like the prom queen next to the Islanders

-Haven't won a title since the 80s?
-Have been mostly bad since the 90s, with a blip of mild competitiveness around 2006, and back to mostly missing the playoffs since then?
-Overshadowed by a more popular team in the same market?
-Orange-and-blue color scheme?

The Isles are clearly the Mets of hockey.  In so many ways.

The weird thing is that while Dolan micromanages the fark out of the Knicks, he pretty much leaves Sather alone to do what he will with the Rangers.

Hey man, you better be careful with that - there's another troll on these boards who likes to threaten people with violating FARQ for calling out people who aren't already in the thread. I'd hate to lose one of the few Ranger fans on Fark for a while.

I've been here so long that it would be pretty dumb for that to happen.

I also wouldn't take it in stride like He Who Shall Not Be Named :P

Here's to us, tonight. MSL is playing.. hopefully he wins ones for his mama, wherever she might be.
