Hmmmm...I don't understand. This wasn't funny. My computer is dry.

2001-12-10 09:34:53 AM
But amusing. I wonder how long it takes for pot smokers to start defending it.

Funny, but it's good to hear that 911 operators prefer to err on the side of safety.

I was looking at the polaroids and realised the file names were 'potdog' and pissed myself laughing.

PotDog. that's a great concept for a tv show or something. Maybe a Korean ramen noodle, too.

2001-12-10 09:42:41 AM
It's sad when you look at nine one one and read it as nine eleven.

2001-12-10 09:47:05 AM
There's a lot of stories like this; babies playing with the phone and dialing 911. Cops arrive and arrest anything suspicious.

2001-12-10 09:54:28 AM
I had dinner with the smoking gun guys last Thursday, they are cool

2001-12-10 09:59:50 AM
Was I the only one who thinks teh guy should have his ass kicked for the "Oh it's you again" comment. I mean, if it was really a woman in trouble, that'd have been farked up.

2001-12-10 10:12:56 AM
The 911 operator reminds me of that Roseanne Barr SNL sketch where she is just super sarcastic to everyone that calls.

What a messed up story.

2001-12-10 10:26:17 AM
What the fark kind of dog whimpers like that for no
apparent reason?

That thing would SOOOO be dead if I ever got outta
jail!

2001-12-10 10:29:32 AM
AND YES
I think we should get a petition to have that operater
fired. WHAT A biatch!

2001-12-10 10:29:55 AM
That is the wierdest sounding lady I have ever heard in all my life...

911 operator bizatch...

Tell those assholes to get a warrant next time....

2001-12-10 10:35:05 AM
Don't listen to these while drinking coffee or your computer will get a coffee bath
couldn't figure out what this meant.

That wasn't funny, listening to background noise and a dog whimpering isn't funny.
The part where they gave the guys phone number out made me smile.

Picture this - a rape victim is bound and gagged while her attacker plunders the house or takes a shower or gets something to eat. She manages to knock the phone off the hook and through a great deal of struggling manages to hit the pre-programmed emergency button, not once but twice. The dispatcher, on whom this victim's life may depend, replies with "Oh, it's you again."
The dog could easily be perceived as a gagged woman. Listen to it again if you disagree.
That dispatcher should be fired!

Also, I can only assume that the fact it was a cell phone madde it so difficult to track the house. Otherwise, WTF?!

Oh, BTW, legalize it!

2001-12-10 10:40:27 AM
That wasn't the guys phone number you dumbfukc, it was the call back number for 911.

[sarcasm alert]

More proof of the man's crackdown on the innocent growing of 150 pot plants to cure the guys glacoma. OFF THE PIG!!!!

[sarcasm alert]

2001-12-10 10:53:52 AM
Kgf:
Please reconsider..

Not legalize, de-criminalize to be used for that statement...

2001-12-10 10:57:54 AM
can someone PLEASE tell me how the smoking gun manages to get all this cool info?

i mean jesus.

2001-12-10 10:58:18 AM
Funny? It was funny?

2001-12-10 11:05:49 AM
loved the 911 attitude.

You know if I as bound up/gagged/bleeding to death I don't want the final words I hear to be "Oh it's you again"

2001-12-10 11:11:24 AM
Maybe the person commenting on the coffee bath was a bit high himself??

2001-12-10 11:14:28 AM
LEGALIZE IT !!!
Drew,
Dinner my ass, I read the local paper's police blotter.
You guys got shiatfaced and stole a Christmas Tree(Read about it in next week's Smoking Gun).

2001-12-10 11:14:46 AM
those plants are just babies, why would you kill a baby, why god why??????????

2001-12-10 11:14:53 AM
MadLeaf: Cops don't usually need a warrant if there's the possibility that someone is in need to immediate assistance or is in dire risk (or if they can see from the outside a crime being committed), keep that in mind next time you want to commit a crime in your own home. If you read the rest of TSG's pages on this same crime: "Detectives were called to the scene and held so that a search warrant could be obtained for a further search."

2001-12-10 11:37:20 AM
Drew:
Tell us about it. I'd like to hear if you had a good time or why they're 'cool'.

2001-12-10 11:53:28 AM
Puppetz: Unless specificly classified/sealed, all police reports, tapes, etc. is public information and any citizen can request a copy. My local police dept. takes 7 days to return citizen requests, although if you're with the media (which Smoking Gun could probably claim), you can get the info you need within 2 hours.

2001-12-10 11:56:34 AM
Won't somebody PLEASE think of the CHILDREN!?!?

2001-12-10 11:57:17 AM
I agree, not funny. But that operator needs to be fired. Good lord, your a 911 operator, your there to help people! No let fly with the sarcastic remarks.

Makes me wonder though, how often 911 gets a crank call? I sat through a couple nights in a 911 operator bank, and I dont remeber any crank calls, but that woman's remark makes me think they get them more then they'd like.

2001-12-10 12:06:39 PM
They're regular guys who really get a kick out of what they do. Plus they like to drink

2001-12-10 12:13:29 PM
Couldn't this case get thrown out of court really easily? I thought if the cops go into someone's house, whatever evidence they find is inadmissable in court unless they have a warrant and are searching for something specific...

2001-12-10 12:27:07 PM
bad dog, BAD DOG!!!! No treat!

2001-12-10 12:34:56 PM
ARF ARF ARF!
"What's that Rin?

RUFF!ARF!ARF!
Billy's trapped in a well?"

ARF!ARF!ARF!
We better get my pa!

Radical Meatsauce: IANAL, but I believe that's only sort of true. There's a "good faith" exception to what you describe, where is the police enter you residence for some other valid reason (domestic violence call, saving someone's life) and something illegal is out "in plain view", then they can arrest you for that illegal item / action even if they did not enter your residense for that specific purpose.

2001-12-10 12:45:40 PM
Oh, I see...thanks!

2001-12-10 12:49:07 PM
That was craptacular

2001-12-10 12:58:30 PM
Willie says "This'll be the last time that bastard owner of mine leaves me in the car."

2001-12-10 01:06:13 PM
Thanks, Lassie! Think of all the lives you... waitaminute... he was growing pot, not coca plants. The fed's gain is 7-11's loss.
That operator is scum. Unprofessional, contemptuous and completely free of sympathy. She should have been a hitman, lawyer, or cop instead of an emergency dispatcher. I hope she gets fired.

2001-12-10 02:29:11 PM
What kind of 911 opperator is that farking snotty. Not only that, but farking stupid too. It took 1 min 30 sec for (2) opperators to identify the sound as wimpering and realize there might be a problem.

2001-12-10 02:40:54 PM
I really didn't find that funny.. just... stupid..

2001-12-10 02:48:03 PM
The 911 op was at least friendlier than most IRS phone people.

2001-12-10 03:27:22 PM
What a jackass. But on the other hand, I can kinda understand, I'd need pot if I lived in Ohio too

2001-12-10 04:06:20 PM
