I'm not going to say that we should be charging police officers with murder every time they kill someone (I mean, we should, but that's very much not going to happen), but we should at least not let them be police officers anymore.

That seems fair.  If you kill someone you're supposed to be protecting, you suck at your job and need to be fired.  I can't find a flaw in that argument.

First shove a sharp oblong object up their asses, without lubricant, to test for drugs. It's best if they are handcuffed and slapped in the face while being subjected to this. Slap their nuts around and make fun of their genitalia while doing so.
Not a cop hater, they do have stressful jobs but once they sign in for the job there is no excuse for abusing their power.
Had it with this bullsh*t.!!!

There is no excuse for what they did and this has nothing to do with speculation of possession. Fire them.

Princess Bubblegum tried that with the Rattleballs.

I wasn't making it an excuse, only correcting my assumption before someone else did.

Ask the AMA for verification of the officers medical credentials.  That will land him in far more pain.

Really, the blood samples were discarded and never tested so they can't definitively say he didn't die of an overdose. How convenient to throw in that little bit of victim blaming.

In California, its actually illegal for police disciplinary actions and internal investigation into misconduct to be released into the public.  So you have no way of knowing, whether before or after, if an officer has a repeated history of misconduct, or has ever been punished for any reason.

I don't know if I'd say that's sad, the show had great chemistry between the lead cop and the lead Android, but the writing was awful and the plot had more holes than the Cowboy's defense.

As far as the kid in TFA goes, the police seem to have made enough mistakes as to not be able to get out of this one.  They'd have something to stand on if they'd identified themselves as police and he still ran, or if they called an ambulance to try to extract the drugs, but him running seems justifiable if they were in plain clothes and didn't identify themselves, and they really had no business sticking anything down his throat while tackling him.

I would amend that to "unarmed or in custody" I would hardly fire a cop who killed someone who was shooting at him/others. But paid desk job after killing a kid is definitely not just.

Maybe, just maybe, if cops would stop being assholes and/or murderers, there'd be less hate for them.

There needs to be a SERIOUS crackdown on police brutality and corruption. It's absolutely disgraceful that we let police get away with so goddamn much.

And we let politicians get away with even worse. It's a top-down fix.

Also, not every town has these horrible fark-style cops. Bad apples, and such.

FTA:   Because Smith's blood samples were discarded and were never tested, the autopsy report could not definitively rule out the possibility that he died of a drug overdose.

Wow, that's some blatant blue line ass-covering right there.

Um,

- Autopsy report classifying death as undetermined
- The report specifies that the boy had suffered blunt force injuries and suggested asphyxiation as a probable cause of death
- Nothing unusual had been found in his stomach
- Blood samples were discarded and were never tested
- The incident occurred a year ago but local reporters were unable to obtain the autopsy report for months

Maybe, just MAYBE, someone is hiding something.

if you are looking for progressive, i'm guessing the problem isn't so much which part of alabama you live in.

So they basically killed this kid for attempting to destroy evidence (of which there was none), yet in the same case "lost" or destroyed evidence (his blood samples).  When is this shiat going to stop?

What amazes me most of all is that in any other western nation this would be a national scandal - I mean police killing an innocent teenage boy?

In the USA this barely makes the local papers....

if enough of these criminals do HARD TIME, might be a decrease in criminal actions

Which is why the entire state should be separated from North America, cast adrift upon the Atlantic Ocean, and targeted by cruise missiles with nuclear warheads.

Arrest the doctor that did the autopsy.
His results are criminally negligent.
Given that the death and the autopsy were evidence in a crime, he conspired to cover up evidence and destroyed evidence.

step one in resolving SOME of this nightmare.

did the state do an emergency cremation of the remains?
or can they autopsy the body and get Bones on the job?

As much as Huntsville and Mobile suck, I'd rather live in either one than anywhere inbetween. At least HSV has a decent music scene.

/If it turns out the kid was white and reasonably good looking, this lawsuit might have legs. Otherwise expect it to get buried.

I'm guessing the kid was not fully cooperative with the cops. Even when cops are jerks it is better to appease them and wait for your day in court.
