The breathless reporting from the local tv stations when they finally rounded it up was everything you'd expect, too

/Sacramento is still a cow town, I guess

LOL

My wife is from the Bay Area and when I proposed we check out Sacramento as a potential landing spot (prices in Bay Area are cost prohibitive and so we ruled it out entirely) when we left NYC, she said "That's always been a cow town."

Turns out we love this place quite a bit.

Yeah me either, I guess it's a holdover from the past? I have to drive about a half hour to see a cow, which really isn't any different than the Bay Area in some cases.

Tomatoes are coming along nicely.

The associated video was horrible. Don't those fancy cameras have some sort of zoom capability so they show more than some vague shadows moving around obscured by tall grass and other vague shadows?

Also, apparently the cowboy was bucked off by the horse at one point. Typical horse, make the rider look bad.

When I first moved to Sacramento a million years ago, Cops did an episode here.  My parents and sister back East tuned in to see what Sacramento was like.  Half the episode was focused on getting a cow out of the middle of the road and my sister called me the next day to sing, "Bad cow, bad cow, what you gonna do."

Sacramento is a great place to live. But for some reason a lot of people from the bay area tend to have an inability to believe that any place other than San Francisco can even be good. Everything sucks compared to SF for them. Sacramento, Oakland, San Jose, Chicago, Miami...you may find a touch less resistance on NYC among some. It's amazing that for a culture with a reputation for being open-minded they sure do hate other places a lot.

When I drove a school bus in rural Texas, I almost struck a cow standing in the middle of the road on a dark, foggy morning.  For days, I couldn't get Adrian Cronauer's voice out of my head.

Adrian: We've got our traffic report up there on the Ho Chi Minh Trail. How's it going up there?
Adrian as Reporter: Well, Adrian, it's not going exactly well. There's a water buffalo jackknifed up there. It's not a very pretty picture, there's horns everywhere. I dunno what to say, we're gonna maybe drop in a little napalm there, try to cook him down, have a little barbecue.

The Detroit traffic report once warned of a loose camel east of Ann Arbor. The locals will know why that actually made sense.

Bill: You're not in Wisconsin, Dave. The big story isn't about a cow wandering into the town square.

Dave: Bill, I worked in Milwaukee, you know. It's a city with a population of a million people.

Bill: So that must have been quite a hub-bub when that cow got loose!

In an alternate universe somewhere, there's humanoid cows singing that song.

As a lifelong Sacramentan, I implore you, please do not judge us by the rampant stupidity of our local TV media outlets.  It's all just so unwatchable these days.

Cows are some of the world's fastest land mammals. Good luck getting clear vids when dealing with a motivated cow.

If it had been a loose camel-toe, that would've made sense.

I think I actually love this article... traipsing, variously roaming, ran around at will. This is my favorite cow and favorite article from the Sacbee (and that is saying something).
