(Daily Star)   Two-week-long summer in Britain could be spoiled this year by manhole-cover sized jellyfish washing up on popular beaches. With pic of what a manhole-cover sized jellyfish looks like, and yeah, that would keep anyone at home   (dailystar.co.uk) divider line 14

CruJones: Dozens of ghostly pale Brits will have to stay away from the frigid waters now

If enough show up it might be enough to scare away the jellyfish.

One giant barrel jellyfish has already been washed up at Portland, Dorset.

Fortunately, however, that particular variety proved to be harmless.

Meanwhile, pest controllers are set to unleash a poison cloud to wipe out hordes of dangerous caterpillars.

Well, that story switched gears abruptly. I thought they were going to pump poison in the ocean, and "caterpillars" are what the Brits call jellyfish.

BitwiseShift: I remember them being purple. Why foodies don't have them on a menu by now is a mystery.

Peanut butter and Jelly fish sandwiches on gluten free flatbread panera with artisanal wasabi mayonnaise. And organic garden fresh free range nori.

Wear a bib.
Don't want it getting on your neckbeard, now.

Cool, I was hoping they would get back together! Maybe they will give Falkner a bit of creative control this time.

Abe Vigoda's Ghost: Yeah, that's an interesting article and all, but I found this story (video) at the bottom of the page to be much more interesting.

Trust me, I've been busy passing that link to nearly everyone here at the office.
{I just want them to stay seated while I light the place on fire}.

Wendy's Chili: At the rate we're dumping carbon into our water, the world's oceans will be one giant jellyfish by the end of the decade.

Then everyone gets a chance to re-enact Finding Nemo. Perfect!

Soon we'll find out it's only mostly harmless.

JackieRabbit: 1: The jelly fish pictured is not a Portuguese man o'war, but a common and harmless species that can be found in any temperate or cold water. They wash up by the millions on the east coast of the US.

2. England is way outside the range of the Portuguese man o'war, which is confined to the tropics.

Also, the portuguese armafa waswiped long ago.
