The robbers hit the clerk over the head with the gun, causing it to go off and a bullet to graze the clerk's head. Police are telling all stations in the city to be on the alert for this

Yeah, if you see a guy with a gun, it may have a hair trigger.

The gun jostled in his hand upon impact causing the trigger to pull against his finger. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire!

Has anyone referenced a cult classic movie from the 90's yet? You know the one I am thinking about...

The one where Wynona Ryder took cash from customers and charged her Daddy's gas card. My Sherona, or something like that.

I worked in a gas station between HS an College.  One day I went in mistakenly thinking I had to work that day.  Turns out I didn't, but somehow I got roped into a 12 hour shift because nobody was showing up.  "So and So didn't show up, can you cover for a few hours".

That was my Dante moment.  At least I got paid for it.

Two guys I grew up with robbed the gas station across the street from their dad's gas station. The employees recognized them and they were arrested a short time later.

I'm having the same confusion here. The only thing I can think of, is the robber meant to hit the clerk with the butt of the gun, but was a bit short in his swing and hit him with the muzzle part, so when the gun fired it grazed him.

He pulled the trigger when he hit the guy.  I doubt the impact against the guys head made it magically fire.

Either way they chocked up quite the little list of felonies to get a couple hundred dollars.

My almost Dante moment:
When I was a senior in HS, I worked at Kroger (grocery store). Senior Prom was on a Saturday, and they scheduled me for a night shift. I asked my supervisor to change it, and she moved it to Sunday 12-8.

I showed up at noon on Sunday and got written up. She meant midnight to 8am.

God, why is it nobody can clearly articulate 12. Why not just say midnight, saying 12 is confusing. For example my daughter recently got a job (finally) and they told her she'd be working 12am till 6. She was fine with a night job so she took it. Turns out they meant 12pm (noon) will 6pm. Shes fine with that as well, but wasted a good couple of nights getting her sleep schedule in order for nothing. (And no she didn't mis-hear I was there as well)

New Jersey residents ask "Self Service? What's that?"  I actually had a young woman ask how gas pumps work when I stopped at a gas station outside of George Mason U in NoVA (she explained she was from Jersey and never pumped gas in her life).

While I'm in CSB mode:
My grandpa actually hired a kid this way.  He ran a paint store in the early 60's and one day an African American kid came in, showed a knife and demanded money.  He said "B*llshiat - if you want money go in back, get an apron and work.  I'll pay you at the end of the day."  The kid was surprised, but did (this was Western PA, not known for job prospects for young black men) and worked there for several years before getting a better job at a steel mill.  Years later, they came to his funeral and thanked my grandma for given them a chance to work instead of crime (and eventual prison).

Same here. My Dante moment actually ended in my resignation/termination. I worked the 2pm to 10pm shift. The guy who worked from 10pm - 6am was always late because he would oversleep, trying to take naps before his shift started. Knowing this, one shift as we did our count, I politely explained to him that I needed him to be on time the following night because I had plans. The freshman dorm closed up at midnight. I had a female friend who wanted me to spend the night, which meant that I had to be in those doors before 12am. He agreed, but the next night there was no sign of him until he called me at 11:30pm sounding groggy like he was still in bed. When he finally got there of course I was fuming, but I had no intention of it becoming physical. I cursed him for his constant disregard for my time and I guess after the third of fourth time I called him a biatch, he snapped. I whipped his ass all out into the parking lot. i stopped because two old women in a Buick who had stopped to get gas pulled up behind us and began blowing the horn and flashing their highbeams, kind of like throwing water on two fighting dogs. He ran back into the station, locked himself in, and called our boss at home.

I think this is where I lost my job. I was in a rage so i was outside of the window telling him to come back outside so I could whip his ass some more. My boss could hear me yelling on the other side of the phone, so I appeared to be the irrational one in the exchange, even though he had attacked me. He ended up going to the emergency room the next day to dramatize it because all he had was a few cuts and bruises. It was decided that John and I could no longer work together. For three days, my boss would drive from his home in Annapolis, MD all the way back to Beltsville just so he could relieve me at the end of my shift. I tried to tell them that it was over as far as i was concerned but as a business owner, my boss didn't want to risk another altercation. He came to me at the end of the third day and said he wasn't going to keep coming from home everyday and he had to make a decision. I felt like after 4 years of working there he should have known me better than to assume that I would start an altercation, but he kept going back to the phone call and how I was the one who kept it going. So, I quit before he let me go. There were no hard feelings. He was a good man and he kept me fed through most of college.

I knew I'd get this question. Yes shes old enough.
We frequently the place, when we were at the register she asked the manager who was running the register if they were hiring. He said yeah and asked if she was available for the 12-6 shift. She asked if he meant 12am or 12pm.

Chock full means "full of" so that's not a crazy leap in logic.
