God damn, were they trying to win the world record for least efficient method possible? They moved an average of seven books per person over a period of 90 minutes. A three-legged dog hitched to a Radio Flyer could have done it faster.

"We moved back here (from Omaha) for the small-town environment, and this is a classic small-town thing to do ... It teaches volunteerism to the kids. It teaches a sense of belonging," she said.

No, it teaches them what most of us have known for years; small towns are full of morons.

That's nothing. When I was growing up we had Hands Across America. ACROSS AMERICA. And it totally worked. The plan the flawless.

Our town did the same thing when the local bookstore moved across Main St.  The owners did have to get a parade permit though.  The city officials were a little puzzled by the route of the parade.

The worst part is that they just completely bastardized a method that does work quickly for moving bulk goods.
