Hz so good: The closest I got to a "cool military story bro!" is one from my dad back in the 60s in then West Germany. After being in the artillery (and losing part of his hearing. No earplugs for you!), he moved to recoilless nuclear munitions, and was in charge of a Davy Crockett team. During war games near the Fulda Gap, they'd lob an oil drum downrange and assume they'd wiped out a Soviet tank battalion (and themselves). They sat out the rest of the games playing volleyball, drinking the good beir and shagging the pretty frauleins, while everybody else did all the hard work.

Despite popular misconception the Davy Crockett wasn't a suicide weapon if it was used properly.

Yes, at max yield you were within the lethal range of the bomb at the max range it could fly.  However, the threat was radiation--and you can shield against radiation.  The angle to the bomb would be low (it's bursting over the enemy target, not high in the sky) and thus all you need to do is get a bit below ground.  Infantry routinely dig foxholes anyway--once the weapon is away the crew dives into foxholes and lays down.

Israel told Kerry they wouldn't return to the peace talks unless they got to blow up some Iranian nuke plants?
