I hate to bring this up, especially in light of the amazing first round and Paul and Beal's performances last night, but this is The Shot:

You are correct, sir. Have seen a lot of fantastic game-winners since, but none of them have overtaken that particular one.

I think that Portland is far enough off the radar for sports and is in its own little bubble that people here will call it "The Shot" forever knowing full well that there are other "The Shot"s out there.  For the Blazers?  It's "The Shot."

Hell, I lived in San Francisco for almost 15 years.  The Bay Area calls SF proper "The City" when we all know there's really only one "The City" and it's roughly 3000 miles to the east.

I definitely agree that shot is still more iconic, I just went with a generic name to make the headline concise, and I figure everyone knows what shot I was talking about. Jordan's shot against the Jazz ranks higher too, even though he committed an offensive foul. I'm just teasing Jordan fans, put down the pitchforks.

Ehhh, his leaving didn't really bug me as much as how he left.  He was going to Miami that summer regardless so at the very least he could have let the Raps trade him as a rental to get something.  On a humorous note I remember a quote from Bosh after a game in Toronto where he said "The fans booing me just gave me the motivation to have a big game" and all I could think of was "Oh great, NOW you tell us."

It was nice to see all his teammates and the coaches up on stage with him. Durant made a point to talk about each one of them individually, which was a nice gesture.

There's a reason the general public isn't as hard on Durant as they are on LeKing.

And maybe it's just me underestimating the Spurs, but I think Portland is a nightmare match up for them. I think the Blazers win the series, but I wouldn't mind being wrong because I'd love to see the Spurs and Pop ride off into the sunset.

The Spurs seem to always be an easy target for underestimating. Some people thought the Lakers would beat them in the first round last year. I'll never count Timmy, Tony and Pop out of it until that final whistle blows though. They know how to win. Unless it is 28 seconds left and Ray Allen... well you see the picture up above. The Blazers are fun to watch though, and I have no qualms cheering for them. I just hope for some good games.

It's tough to get worked up over home favorites taking care of business, but obviously the losers have some serious retooling to do with their gameplans

That was a full 24 minutes of some serious schooling. Even the few shots Portland made had to bounce around the rim a little before going in. Times like this make me glad it's a seven game series (ahem, potentially) and not a best of three.

No one and I mean NO ONE picked the Lakers to beat the Spurs last year. You're kidding right?

I know Magic did on the ABC/ESPN show, which lead to Skip Bayless agreeing I believe. So yeah, it was Magic the Laker lover, and Skip the troll, so it might not count, but there were a lot of people going into the playoffs last year who were worried the Spurs were too old, too hurt, and their stars had spent too much time on the bench during the regular season.

On the move to commercial I swear Harlan tried to calculate the Spurs lead, couldn't do it quick enough, then just improvised the rest.

There were plenty of people taking Golden State in round two, but yeah, Skip and Magic, not sure that counts too much on the first round.

I'm pulling for Portland, nothing against the Spurs since thar be haters and all, but until San Antonio gets knocked off, age doesn't seem to matter much in my eyes. They've looked really good tonight, obvious as that may be.

I don't think they were the only ones to pick them, but they are the first that come to mind. I do remember a lot of people had doubts about the Spurs at the start of the playoffs last year. Manu and Parker had both had injuries. Timmy had only been playing 27 mins a game. Nobody had yet bought into Danny Green or Kawhi. Their playoff runs kind of made everyone forget those doubts at the start.

Even the local afternoon guys (one of whom is the Lakers radio announcer) on the Lakers station were only lukewarm in their "explain how the Lakers could win this series" segment before the playoffs started.
