If the key to longevity is constant flatulence, I'll pass.

Jeanne Calment lived until 122.   Shesmoked from the age of 21, and enjoyed a diet rich in olive oil, port wine, and chocolate every week.

All the world oldest men and women get their title because their predecessors die. Maybe they should be put in protected custody.

the exception doesn't mean anything scientifically.  you have to look at a thousand or more people who smoked since 21 to draw any meaningful conclusions.  its called the Scientific Method and it works.  course, it doesn't work in 'murica very well because the science nowadays often reflects whatever the group paying for it wants it to reflect. that is not science. that is crony capitalism.

cheers!

oh, i responded to your first sentence without reading anything else, sorry if that sounded like a dumb response in context (which is out of context) makes perfect sense.  i promise.

i really wasn't trying to make a point about the health benefits of smoking.  i was just trying to say, some folks live longer than others, those folks don't live the same way, who knows what the secret is...

i think its a combo of things, plus your genes.   healthful eating habits, get enough sleep, limit stress, exercise, bad habits/drugs/ciggies,etc, mental outlook, friends/family,  and just plain luck.

one thing is for certain, no one here gets out alive.  (:
