nekom: I have the weirdest railfan boner right now.RodneyToady: No way to slow down...I have the weirdest best Jethro Tull song ever boner right now.But THIS is a locomotive. http://www.douglas-self.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/holman/holman.htm I have the weirdest.... something.
bigbobowski: it's really unbelievable they are doing this. they have a challenger I thought I had heard they were planning on retiring. I know i'll never see it, but something like this is like a swiss watch. it's like when I went to the hoover dam. and I saw the tiled floors and I thought we used to be a bad ass country, I don't mean military, I mean we would go 110% on everything we made or did. why tile the floors, or make a locomotive the size of a steam ship. because we are America f*cko's that's what we did.
uttertosh: gotta keep that coal industry turning over somehow, huh?
dj_bigbird: Holy fark, I found my new dream job, "senior manager of heritage operations for the Union Pacific Railroad"

nekom: I have the weirdest railfan boner right now.
Fubegra: I was bummed out when they sent this one back to the museum, but it's also going to be restored and steam again:[fubegra.net image 850x566]/my photo, June '92//original is on Kodachrome 64///rode behind it that day
robodog: If you're ever in Dearborn, MI check out the Henry Ford musueum, they have an Allagheny class engine, 777k tons dry so probably in the same weight class as this beast. They really are impressive.
