ArcadianRefugee: I don't get it.

I  don't get half of headlines half as well as I should like; and I like less than half of headlines half as well as they deserve.

SpdrJay: I'm only 50 and I already hurt in places I didn't know I had 20 years ago.

At that age it must just be one big symphony of pain and aches.

I'm not quite 50 and I hurt in places that really shouldn't; but then, at 50 I shouldn't be hanging mirrors while wearing socks and standing on the dresser.

Or so I was told after the fact.

It's a Stephen King reference.

NobleHam: Danger Avoid Death: NobleHam: wildcardjack: Has someone verified that 116 year old Japanese woman? I remember that after the Fukushima earthquake inspectors found that lots of 80+ year old pensioners had been dead for years, including a bunch of creepy mummy cases. "He just locked himself away, we never checked on him" type stuff.

Misao Okawa is verified. The Japanese kept great records and because she's the oldest, she's checked on regularly. The years have not been kind to her though.

She's still alive at 116. I'd say they've been pretty damned good to her. By the time I'm 116, I'll probably have been dead for over 50 years.

I'd rather not reach 116 with the infirmities most 116-year-olds get.

I'd rather not reach 86 with the infirmities most 86-year-olds get. My grandmother is 87, and has to have full-time nursing care. She's in a nice enough place, but she hates it because she says it's "full of old people".
