Long called Andrew's sister "a firecracker."

So she's latin?

/Very cool of him

He sure didn't come up short.

Two things:

1. Maybe it's just me and my skewed worldview, but that kid's not that fat.  Kids are getting dumber if they think so.
2. It's very, very obvious that Howie Long needs to be voted Father of the Year by a few societies.  Between Kyle & Chris, it's kinda obvious.

That kid looks about like I did only shorter. Damn kids have high expectations of their peers if they're giving HIM shiat.

I was taller than everyone so I was left alone for the most part.

He could of just setup a cheap bullshiat charity to donate his paycheck a year so it doesn't go to taxes, but this guy makes my list. Much as I hate the NFL, when athletes go out of their way to do this its pretty awesome.
/makes me believe there might be some life in humanity

1. Have you met any of their parents? This is explained.
2. He has some other close-ish family, nephews and such, that are starting to be knows in similar fashion. I think this is a bloodline kinds like Mathews. Good to watch for the youts.

He actually told them that if he ever found out the one was getting roughed up and the other was there and didn't do anything that he would kick their asses.

/So take that for what you will...

That's how I was raised. My dad told my brother and I that there was nobody more closely related to us than US, and we have to watch out for each other because there is nobody else there to do so when dad isn't around. Needless to say my older brother kicked some asses for me. I was never in the position for giving and assist.

He just needed somebody to hang out with and have a strong male presence, like an older brother-type deal.

So you think you are a better man than his dad? Just what I would expect from a Bears player wearing GREEN BAY colors.

/Douche.

Stop pointing out the obvious! Trying to get a trolling going in a sports thread about someone who did a good thing.

Everything you need to know about Kyle Long's twitter personality is contained in his reply to a picture of a guy next to a baby dolphin in the water:

"@CuteEmergency: Teaching a baby dolphin how to swim. pic.twitter.com/SlRuH46TL9" dolphins know how to swim leave him alone jackass

- Kyle Long (@Ky1eLong) January 2, 2014

He's got a good heart and a good head on his shoulders for his age. Still very much a brah, but that's to be expected. Glad he's a Bear.

Howie Long has adult kids?

Man I'm old.

Kyle had his own issues when he was younger. Getting into trouble with authority and the law.

It is nice to see him doing the right thing. Good on you, Kyle.

Remember when being teased was called "being a kid" and you had to learn to cope with uncomfortable situations on your own?  Man, those were the days.

Still, good on Kyle.

The bullying got so bad, said Andrew's father, Frank, that Andrew had to change schools

No. They didn't "have to" change schools. It was their decision to buckle under and capitulate to some kids saying mean stuff. Good luck at the next school! Everything will be exactly the same as long as you indulge your child's every wish so they won't endure any hardship.

I saw a video of fans welcoming him to Chicago after the draft; one guy told him that he (Kyle) basically owned the town now, and Kyle just shrugged and said "I haven't done anything yet."

Getting arrested in college was strangely the best thing to happen to him, as it straightened him out early.
