What about 'suitcasing' a Subway sandwich?  You know, taking it up the butt?  And how do you keep the meatballs from sliding out?  It is embarassing when you are doing jumping jacks in the park and a meatball falls out from the back for your shorts leg.

But then the gerbil cannot breathe and the reason why I suitcased the sandwich in the first place is so that he can have some food.  Gerbils cannot subsist on corn kernels and astroglide alone.

Fair enough. I don't have any good advice then. Godspeed and good luck.

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sweatpants would be it. The long-term benefits of sweatpants have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience.

Introducing Subway's newest sandwich. . .THE MANDINGO SUB!

Hadn't had subway in years and went to one a couple weeks ago. They skimp on everything now even the veges. I got a light dusting of lettuce. How thin are your profit margins when you skimp on iceberg lettuce?

i have always found the smell of a Subway to be disgusting.  it doesn't smell like good old-fashioned bread baking, it smells farking weird.

I've never had a problem....you could, I don't know, maybe ASK for more of a particular topping?  I know, pretty revolutionary....

it may be because for quite a number of years the ONLY sub-type sandwich i had ANYWHERE was subway (i'm from a small town, not many choices in that type of food growing up), but i agree...subway is a great combo of flavor/price, especially when the subs you like are the ones covered by their sales

and since they've added varieties of bread besides white & wheat, even better

i know the egg patty on their breakfast sandwiches is premade/frozen...but once they put it in the toaster oven, that's ok...i like to get a breakfast sandwich there once in a while, if i'm short on time, because i can get spinach and onions and some sort of dressing (ranch or southwest chipotle are my favorites), unlike any other fast food b'fast places

quiznos has never set right with me...don't know what it is, but something is nauseating in their dressing or cheese or something

which wich is darn good...i just don't have one convenient to me for lunch...pretty much the only time i would go there anyway

From my experience it varies from serving drone to serving drone. and how much of a penny pincher the manager/owner is. Though realistically how much do the materials actually cost them?

I'll go to Subway sparingly (I live just a few blocks away from one, so, fark it) and unless you say something other than simply barking out the specific ingredient you want on it, it's still the lettuce that they will dump a pound of on your sub yet skimp on everything else.

Even if you "like" Iceberg lettuce, which is like saying "I enjoy the taste of air", I can't fathom your ideal veggie additions to any sandwich of your choosing would be "90% lettuce, 10% miniscule scraps of onion, olives, etc"

the nearest location to my house is in an exxon station 3.1 miles away. they always do them up right in there.

across the highway, at the same junction, there are 2 more subways...one inside our new walmart, and one on the other side of the road from the wm in a little strip center that also has our family dentist's office, a donut shop, a nails salon, and a japanese food restaurant

basically my point. sure, i could pay at least $2 more per sandwich and get better stuff...but i'm a cheapskate. if i'm going to spend more than subway, i'm going to the grocery store, buying a $1 french bread from their bakery area, and some sliced deli meat & cheese

Agreed.  It smells... chemically?  Not like cleaners or gasoline.  It is hard to describe.  If I want a sub I just go to the Publix down the street from my house or the one right across from my office.  Best dang sub in town.

the most recent subs i've had were from 7-11. for free. my wife works there and they get to take home expired stuff. sandwiches, unopened, if kept refrigerated, are good for several days past the date stamp.

the wm was the 2nd location, and the one in the strip center was still under construction for a bit after wm opened. one day i walked into wm, and the supervisors were gathered near the entrance, and i overheard one of them talking about yet another subway opening soon...they all kind of laughed and groaned.

subways are like starbucks...they're EVERYWHERE. starbucks is a little worse...but subway is catching up

I prefer to make the bread myself (have a bread maker and a french bread pan/tray to put the dough on in the over), and buy the meat in blocks/sticks and run them through my meat slicer.

The servers at my local Subway got into a shouting match with each other and cops had to show up to take the more aggressive one away.

Wife and I haven't been back since. Who know what passive-aggressive shiat they do there.

Wawa?

No, I know, but they're way better than Subway.

I have a 45min commute (non-highway) and I amazingly do not pass a single Wawa.

Try to conceive of the possibility of that in the Philly area.

And if I had better options nearby, I would probably partake of them as well.  Point is, I can walk to the Subway, get my order and be back in my office or the breakroom inside of 15 minutes.  Again, they are NOT the best, but for the money (~7 bucks for sandwich, chips and iced tea), it's hard to beat.

I was born in Philly and still have a bunch of family there. I swear the last few times I've been back, there were more Lukoil's around than WaWa's, which pissed me off.

Maybe it has to do with the super wawas.. Perhaps they've been closing more small stores to consolidate.
