What the hell is wrong with those people?  I'd have killed to go to a school that looks as cool as that.  Stupid idiots.

So.. apparently the net is outraged that China copied a building plan from a popular fiction franchise to teach children in.  I'm not really seeing the problem.

Wish school buildings I was taught in looked as cool as that. Too bad it will probably collapse on the students or give them lead poisoning.

Well, that would be because there is no such thing as 'the real thing' for Hogwarts.

Hogwarts is fictional.  It does not exist.

I'd rather go to school in a castle than a generic concrete and glass shiatbox.

I think it's hilarious how the West outsources it's labor from China but China outsources it's culture from the West.

A 5000 year old culture with billions of people and they can't invent a damn thing on their own of any note.
All they can do is cheaply copy EVERYTHING from the West.

What CCP is doing to that country is pathetic.

To be honest, Chinese culture has, traditionally, been one of imitation.  If you do any sort of research into Chinese Historical Art, for many dynasties in order to be considered a true "gentleman scholar" you needed to be able to copy classical paintings by the great men before you.  So for several hundred years their art looked pretty much the same-- everyone was either copying the same goddamn paintings or creating ones of different scenes in the same style as their forebears.  Same goes for philosophical treatises and the like-- the tests for bureaucratic posts were based on your ability to regurgitate by rote things written by a generation far removed from your own.

There has been a revolution in method and practices since the 20th century, but old practices die hard.

Its a beautiful building, whatever that its a copy or an original. It looks like a castle and that is cool.

Reminds of me of my kids looking at a Light Saber at ToyRUs, with a label that says "authentic real light saber sound". Even my kids knew by then there is no such thing as "real light saber sound".

On another note, I don't recall a clock tower at Hogwarts in the books or movies.
