(Quartz)   For reasons not entirely clear, tech IPOs have gone from bugfarking-silly a few weeks ago to nothing today. Wall Street observers expect Alibaba to get the party restarted   (qz.com) divider line 16

I think the main issue here is "small sample size causes fluctuations".  How many Tech IPOs can happen during a given month, anyways?

Not entirely clear?

Lets try this:  The investment bankers have successfully suckered enough rubes into buying, and are now just waiting for a fresh group of rubes to save enough shekels to prop up a new bubble.

My guess is that the market is still jittery about Russia.

I'm not sure why people complain about a tech bubble, as tech P/E ratios are well short of what they were in the last bubble.

But this time it is different. We are in a new normal where bubbles form with P/E ratios within historical averages.

Do you need 600,000 office chair casters? Or 40,000 gallons of Aluminum chlorohydrate?

Then you don't need to know.

The less snarky answer is it's ebay for factories in China (and other places).  It's does more sales than ebay and amazon combined.

1) Small sample sizes.

2) So Square and Box are your 2 great hopes.   http://techcrunch.com/2014/05/02/with-ipo-hopes-fading-square-and-box - face-reality-of-commodity-products/?ncid=rss

/Now, all we need is for everyone to keep selling AMZN.  Seriously, can we get them down to 200 sometime in the next day or so?

I refer to it as "the wet dream of every mechanical engineer to come up with a infomercial product".

I'm not gonna lie, I've got a couple grand waiting in a brokerage account for this IPO. I wasn't sure what I would do with it but that seems as good a move as any.

"But in the last two weeks of April, hardly a tech deal of note arrived."

Damn these folks are jittery. A whole two weeks without a major IPO or multi-billion dollar acquisition and the sky is falling.

I got tired of waiting and got in at 295 after the last drop. They are going to take over the world someday, so get in while you can.

/pretty pumped about alibaba too

Well, the reason I ask is because I'm now in to the tune of a lot.  And the lower the price gets today, the more stock I get.

Wasn't planning that.  But it happened.  So YAY for tech stock crash.  Wonderful timing.
