This is EXACTLY why I had about 40 pints of my own blood taken over a period of a couple years in my early 20s and saved. I'm going to outlive all of you.

As a 28 year old who has donated blood nearly every two months since he was 17 and is often times confused for a seventeen year old, I'm skeptical.

Wolf892: With all the awesome testing and results that go into mice you would think someone could write a kick ass story about the accidental creation of super mice that manage to escape their cages in some lab located in say, the National Institute of Mental Health or something.

I bet a story like that would be really cool.

Can one get an ELECTIVE blood transfusion?  What if you lined up your own donor?  This would be a must for those people trying to make it to the 'singularity'.

I'm skeptical, this sounds too obvious and too simple. If it were that simple surely someone would have discovered this long before now.  We would have had rich people getting transfusions of young people's blood for decades already.

They can do a lot of cool things with mice, they seldom transfer to working as well with humans.

Are we going to need to start a Blood 401k? Start putting aside your own blood when you're still young for when you get old?

Maybe they'll allow for human cloning so we can clone ourselves and harvest the blood, as well as keeping the organs alive in case we need a transplant...

Rats.  It should be super rats and have only 2 of the mice actually make it out.

So, American women have been doing it all wrong by sucking the blood of their husbands?

2014-05-05 09:04:59 AM
This makes perfect sense in a lot of ways.  A while ago, I had an incident with a blender (alcohol was involved, of course) and lost pretty much all of my blood, only surviving due to a quick reaction from a EMT team and a complete transfusion.  Apparently, there was a blood drive going on at the local high school, so I ended up getting filled up with teenage blood, and ever since then I've felt smarter, faster, and wiser!  It's like I have a brand new, eighteen year old body again!

As it turns out, though, this doesn't work as a legitimate defense in a statutory rape trial, so just keep that in mind.

So when the hospital gives my donated O- blood to babies, does it have the opposite effect?
