"Minor" quake, subby.  That was minor.  They felt it, but it was a 6.2 and an epicenter of 100 miles below ground.  That'll barely stir your coffee.

Oddly enough the Asian trailer for Godzilla includes a newsflash about a 6.3 earthquake in Japan.

Fark Godzilla. Gamera was the best giant monster Japan ever came up with.

You mean the monster that loses a limb in every fight?

So basically, the quake was nothing more than Godzilla snoring, or farting in his sleep.

My phone alerts me for any "monster" quakes.

Which is why I knew nothing about this one....

there were some injuries , so I'd have to call it a medium quake.

Man, every time I read about a powerful quake along the Ring of Fire, I realize we're counting the time bomb ticks here in Seattle.

But not if it's followed by a 50' tall fire-breathing lizard!

This quake woke me up just after 5am this morning, but I wouldn't call it "monster."  The house shook a bit but nothing fell over or received any damage.

pottie:... so I'd have to call it a medium quake;

if it killed a clairvoyant midget that had escaped from prison you could call it a small medium at large quake

And I just felt a 4.9 centered in Whittier.

Or as know in California, a "major" quake.

I was just at Japan Times website, before I saw this link
Saw nothing about a quake
Had to go back and dig into other links
Found a mention of the quake
Subby is a troll, and the greeners don't look at submitted links

Nope... Few Idiots having a book falling on their face while sleeping don't make this quake any bigger...

I was wondering why no Godzilla joke in TFH.

Second quake I have been through.  I wouldn't call it a monster quake as the house I was in was still standing and I was on the bottom floor, so that's a good thing.

Was a bit scary, but still new enough to me that I didn't know what was going on until half way through and decided to go back to sleep once I figured out what was going on.

Suppose you lived in an isolated town of 200. And suppose 180 of your fellow residents all lived in the same building.

How is subby a "troll" if this shiat actually happened. Also how is Googling "Japan Quake" having to "go back" and digging into other links? Not sure what you're whining about.

It started out really subtle and "rolly" (enough to wake me up), subsided slightly, and even then I somehow felt as if there was more coming behind it.  Then it got much more shaky/rattle-ish, and persisted for quite a long time.  Fun stuff.

So, a 6.2, or one-thousandth the power of the Fukishima tsunami quake. Yawn.

It was 5 on the shindo scale in Tokyo, which is big enough to scare the crap out of pretty much anybody after a minute or so. Glad it was a short one.
