That looks cool, but where are the kids? I don't see any children riding it. They didn't actually make something like that and then tell the kids they couldn't use it, did they?

Because I'd run into gravestones.

- The biggest hill in Brooklyn is in Greenwood Cemetery.

England's got a lot of 'health and safety' regs/laws.  People frequently cite them, mistakenly or intentionally, to justify bad decisions.  Can't let kids on the water slide, it's too long and unsafe.

Google for health and safety jobsworth, or elf and safety.

In fact it got so bad that their actual Health and Safety Executive has had to start running a website where people can report bogus Health and Safety citations.

Just come back from this. Kids were on late afternoon, about 430pm. They only did half the length for them too

Here in San Francisco we have the Big Wheel races. Tons of people dress up in silly costumes and ride big wheels (or any other wheeled kids toy) down Vermont St. (as windy as Lombard.) It's a ton of fun.

CSB Time...

When I was a kid, our town had a summer activities program with the usual art classes, health/safety class, etc, etc. One day they advertised a huge water slide down a steep hill at the local park. Of course, we were jacked about it...until we got there and noticed it was just a bunch of tarps tied together over the rockiest part of the hill. Only a few kids were brave enough to go down, they ended up bruised and bloody from the rocky slide down. That was the last summer I was young enough to attend, but I can only assume they canned that idea for future programs.

Heh. We made a water slide in the back yard for my son's 16th birthday. It was about 40 metres long and had 2 hay bales at the end to stop the young lads and ladettes crashing into the fence.

Unbeknownst to his mother and the party guests, he & I hid some fake blood behind the bales, then when he had the first slide, over the bales he went and disappeared.

10 seconds later, this AWESOME bloodied head appears over the top of the hay bales. He was looking dazed and wobbly - blood running down the side of his face from his scalp.

His mother and party guests all had the expected reaction and couldn't understand why he & I were laughing.

/ Sick sense of humour
// His mother said words to the effect of: "That's it - we're getting divorced next week"
/// Already separated at the time, so my cunning plan was coming to fruition

I'm actually very surprised that London has bought back the Routemaster style double decker bus. For those that don't know it it has, like the old ones that were phased out twenty years ago, an open back where passengers can jump on and off even while the bus is moving.

i.dailymail.co.uk

Really didn't think health'n'safety concerns would let that happen. Haven't heard of any accidents yet...
