IMHO, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was a let down....don't waste your money seeing it in a theater.

Could it be anymore of a let down than the first one? Was bored silly with it, but stuck there because my nephew wanted to finish watching the movie.

Electro and his killer dubstep stole the show. Most scenes with Spider-Man were okay, the Green Git was barely tolerable, and every scene with Peter Parker out of costume was slightly more painful than dental surgery without anesthesia.

It was slightly more enthralling than the first-thanks mostly to Dane DeHaan's portrayal of Harry Osborne, the cinematography and attempted adherence to canon-so my $1.50 and time weren't *completely* wasted.

ASM1 was better to me. But if you want Spidey to join the MCU, why? He'll likely overshadow the Avengers themselves.

Time to reboot the franchise, boys!  This property's got three perfectly reusable holes and we're going to whore it out until people literally hate us for making these movies!

By the time we let Marvel get the property back, they won't even WANT to make a Marvel/Disney version of the character!

Cap had a bigger opening weekend than Spider-Man and passed Man of Steel's total box office run just one month after release. Fun times.

I'll probably do the same thing I did last year: wait a few months until the film hits the budget theater...

/ it's worth $1.75, right?

Cap had a bigger opening, and it was 20x the movie that ASM2 was.

Saw it last night with three friends. All agreed, it was good, really good. Arguably the best Spider-Man movie with the exception of Spider-Man 2.

I am a huge Marvel fan but have no interest in the rebooted SM. I didn't see the first one and have no interest in this one.

Actually I just read some blog about how awful this movie is. It had spoilers but since I wasn't going to see the movie anyway, I decided to read it. After reading it, I probably won't even bother with this crap on video, as most of my apprehensions about how awful it looked are apparently substantiated.

I still have some hope for "Days of Future Past" but Quicksilver's look is not reassuring.

I was just rewatching the first Captain America yesterday on TV, and it really gets better with repeat viewings, especially now that we know just how critical it was at setting up things like Hydra and the relationship with Bucky for the second movie. I also finally noticed the bit parts from Natalie Dormer and Jenna-Louise Coleman I missed the first time.

I hope you aren't trolling, because I love the shiat out of the new film.  Yeah, it would be best to send Spidey home to Marvel, but Sony is trying to make good movies.

the people talking about how it sucks are lying (just like the Trek fans that claim they hate the new trek films).  It isn't as good as Marvel's best, but it is a good bit better than Marvel's worst (and Marvel's worst is kinda like Pixar's worse - still pretty damned ok).

I think they are using the timey wimey stuff in this movie to retcon away X-Men 3 by the end of the movie. As for Magneto and Charles still being around after the end of X3, you can just chalk that up to no one ever staying dead or depowered in comics.

Saw it last night. I didn't want to see in the theater it but wife insisted. I think it's going to divide fan base like man of steel did. I hated it.  Jamie foxx's character was such a waste. Movie bobs movie review echoes my thoughts. I actually really liked the first one even as unnecessary as it was. Action looked great though. It LOOKED great being key.

I'd rank the movies pretty much as:
Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 1
The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The Amazing Spider-Man
Spider-Man 3

But seriously, every moment of Peter Parker in TASM2 was terrible. Not "Parker has a bad day/can't find the right words/is caught up in his double life" terrible, but poorly written, acted, and edited garbage all the way through. About the only pluses Andrew Garfield have are that he does Spidey's mannerisms and voice really well, and he keeps the damn mask on.

The Marvel movies bore me silly. I still haven't made it through Captain America 1 or Thor 2. Just a snore all around. The Amazing Spider-Man movies are no better, no worse. Just exactly the same.

Fanboys pretending Marvel movies are somehow superior to this one aren't paying much attention, or they're just being Marvel fanboys.

I think the coroner would have listed multiple causes, the spinal trauma would have killed her, but the skull fracture and massive brain trauma that must have resulted from the impact probably won the race.

Fanboys hate these movies not because of their quality, but because they're "Too Soon" and "Too Teen-age."

It has nothing to do with the quality of the movies. It has to do with how fanboys perceive them.

Mugato: This just in....if you disagree with frepnog you are a LIAR!

not true.  but if you say AS2 is shiat, you ARE lying.  It is not.  You may not like it (prefer Tobey, want Spidey back at Marvel, think the movie was just unneeded) but the movie is a solid Spiderman film.  Easily as good as AS1, and miles and away better than Spiderman 3.

Hah, what I was going to say. I haven't seen the Sony Spider-Man films, but that latest Trek film was painfully bad. First one was OK, but that sequel... Yikes. If that's the level of quality I can expect from the Spider-Man films skipping them seems like the best move.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but the last Trek was terrible. That's not subjective, that's objective. It's a scientifically proven fact.

there is a large disconnect between the critics and people that actually saw the film.

Critics are hating on it.  Fanboys are hating on it.  Regular people that see it like it.  Most people are regular people.

It's a good film.

mariner314: I have no interest in rewatching the raimi spider-man films.

I re-watched all three original films this past weekend.  The first one is cheesy, has poor effects, a power ranger reject as a villain and Macy farking Gray for some reason.  It's a good Spiderman film when that was the best they could do.

Spiderman 2 is mostly good, but it has that entire played out "I'm losing my powers!" subplot that makes no sense, and a magic key ending that shiats on Doc Ock.  Oh, and let's not forget dumping a miniature sun into water - and it doesn't even sizzle.

Spiderman 3 has two good scenes - Sandman's creation and Spidey's first battle with Sandman.  The rest of the movie is shiat.

Yes....  the new films are superior.  In damn near every way.

Nope, not trolling. Long time Spider-Man fan (I actually have ASM #1,2,3,5&6). This was the BEST representation of Peter Parker/Spider-Man to date. Man, I would love to see Garfield's Spider-Man in Avengers 3. The CGI was phenomenal, with the swinging through the city making it, (I can't believe I'm saying it) worth seeing in IMAX 3D. It's that good. The fight scenes are probably the best out of ANY comic book movie to date. Yeah, they got the look of the Green Goblin wrong, again. Wasn't totally thrilled with the Rhino either and what happened to the them music from the first ASM movie. Loved the build up of the relationship between Peter/Stacey. This movie has hear and emotion. The negative critics are no doubt tired of comic books movies, aren't fans to begin with, or people that need pew pew pew and sock 'em! and Pow! to hold their attention. Can't wait to get it on Blu-ray. Since Disney ALREADY owns the merchandise rights to Spidey (bought them off of Sony a few years ago) they should just go ahead and pay $1 billion for the rights to Spider-Man already and get it over with already.

i SAID that critics are slamming it.  however, with regular people it is at 75 percent.  That is a disconnect between what is CRITICS say a shiatty movie is, and one that really IS shiatty.

do i think RT is infallible?  of course not, but it can demonstrate when critics are slamming a movie that people really actually like.
