But on the plus side, she'll win the Kentucky Derby and star in a show about how to be a whore.

Without reading the article, I'm going to guess that the "hacking" consisted of typing in a password that was written on a post-it note pasted to the terminal.

jmr61: So is this obscure or not?

Not really obscure.  Subby is referring to a hit movie in the early 80's about this teenage programmer who breaks into a computer system, which is called WOPR, which stands for War Operational Plan Response, that runs the US missile defenses.  And in breaking into the system, he almost causes WWIII.  It stared Matthew Broderick, Ally Sheedy and Dabney Coleman.

If I recall correctly, I believe the movie's name is Tootsie.

was the password "pencil"?

/or was it "paper clip"? I haven't seen that movie in forever

No, no, Tootsie was the one about the kid who went back to 1955 and had to make sure his mom and dad farked before he could come back to the future.

The movie you're thinking of was Smoky and the Bandit 3.

No. Smoky and the Bandit 3 was the one where the lady got pulled into the computer and it turned her into a robot, then superman had to fight her.

2014-05-04 07:33:29 AM
That movie taught me how to hack a pay phone. All you need is a pull tab from a beer can. It's too bad there's no more pull tabs or pay phones.

You were close, but you wouldn't know it from the linked article. He physically broke into the principal's office and used the principal's computer to change grades. No indication of how he got the password, or if there even was one.

Everyone who's tryinto name the movie is wrong. The movie Subby is referring to is The Empire Strikes Back, which starred Eddie Murphy as a bad cop turned investment banker who got piss-drunk at a Christmas party and orchestrated the deaths of five other people.

It was based on a board game.

I can't believe how ignorant you people are, randomly naming off movies without a clue as to what you're talking about.

The movie was called GhostBusters. It's right there in the title - He Busts into the mainframe without anyone realizing he's there, like a Ghost.

Dabney Coleman, of course, played the role of the computer.

No no no.  Dabney Coleman played a spy character from a video game that the hacker kept hallucinating was helping him escape bad guys in his real life...or it was his Dad, I was never really sure about that.

The movie was Hot to Trot.
