I've heard more rational things coming out of the mouth of Sonny the Cuckoo Bird than in that article.

I foresee an entire generation of cross-eyed children. At least it'll be entertaining watching them run into things.

Is no one concerned that Mark Zuckerberg's zeal for completely immersing people in alternate realities might be toxic for them?

Well, you certainly sound concerned.

Also, I found the phrase "member of the Fox News Medical A-Team " hilarious.

Yeah... but, it's not.

And that said, I'd just like to add:  FARK YOU, MARK ZUCKERBERG, YOU SLIMY PIECE OF SCHITT!

I joke that when my generation starts getting old you'll see old people playing video games in nursing homes and listening to death metal. I look forward to spending my golden years in a VR existence.

I forget what they are called but the toy safety administration is actually pretty toothy. Well armed. They'll shut your ass down in a big way.

This is one of the dumber articles i've read lately. Does fox have anti-video-gaming maven Tipper Gore writing for them now, you know, now that she isn't with the inventor of the internets anymore?

So they advocate for a miserable existence for anyone who isn't  a 1℅er and now will oppose any device that allows the masses to relieve themselves through virtual escapism. Okay, got it.

2014-05-03 05:35:01 PM
This is the Fox doctor who usually tries to tie some type of psychological or medical thing into any story so he can try to provide a "rationale" reason for disliking today's world. To him, the internet is the devil and too many kids are detached from reality by playing video games, and that's why the youth of today are a bunch of lazy thugs.

Yeah, he's a shill.

2014-05-03 05:36:15 PM
Well, to be fair, the FDA would study a paper clip for years and demand rigorous clinical trials before approving it for use.  The FDA approval process is not dissimilar to a swift kick in the testicles, except it drags on for years (rather than just FEELING like the pain lasts for years).

I can kind of see why Fox News feels threatened by the Oculus Rift... If people could just examine the issues from every angle, Fox News would find it pretty hard to maintain their current business model.

Oh, please. The FDA is too bust fastlaning drugs that haven't been adequately tested.

2014-05-03 06:01:03 PM
If the Oculus Rift were a bomb, rather than a gaming headset, the DoD would require a lot of testing to make sure it works.

If the Oculus Rift were a baseball player, rather than a gaming headset, it would have to rise through several levels of comparative evaluation.

If the Oculus Rift were a cable news network, rather than a gaming headset, it would have to prove itself profitable or be replaced by other programming.

Conservatives love government regulation. Of morals. Well, certain morals. As interpreted by mainstream American Protestantism. Greed is good, but sex is bad. Drugs are bad. Video games are bad.  Basically "ban anything old white men don't like."

FOXNews enjoys pushing the boundaries of ordinary social conservatism into scary new realms. Look at the hatchet job they're doing on marijuana (you'd think they'd like it since its not as harmful as booze).

This is technology, therefore scary. And so here we are.

If the Good Lord had intended for us to put motion controlled VR immersion systems on our heads, he would have provided us with wired neural shunts... or something... I guess... I don't know anymore...  Think of the children who are going to resist Sunday School over this... Sure, that's the ticket.

Won't somebody think of the children? THE CHILDREN???

Allow me to summarize the article:

"There's a new technology thingy that is different from my current frame of reference and I totally don't understand what it is or what it does, but it's in the hands of a California Democrat - BE AFRAID SHEEPLE!!!!"
