Is this about ice hockey playoffs?

tuffsnake: Is this about ice hockey playoffs?

Must be - after all, they're talking about the 'greatest athletes' and 'grandest stages'. I don't recognize any of those teams, though....

Two more game seven tomorrow. If only there were a way to get Marv Albert to call all five.

2014-05-03 05:06:11 PM
I'm picking Indy, OKC, and the Warriors. I know, not the most inspiring set of picks in the world.

That confused me as well, I quickly realized that this couldn't be the hockey thread, not enough people in it.

I think the Pacers will win, but if the Hawks can upset them, in their building, the scowl on Larry Bird's face will be scary enough to scare Satan. I don't see how the Thunder can lose with all the problems for Memphis tonight, between suspensions and injuries. I am totally unsure about the Clippers of Warriors though. With all the distractions going on in Clipperland, I can see them falling apart. Hopefully we get some good games, I don't think any of them can live up to that Blazers game last night though. I wasn't sure if I could stay awake until the end, so glad I did.

Pacers by 15.  Not that I think the Pacers are finally going to show up, I just think that at some point the Hawks are going to play like their record and crap themselves.

JerseyTim: Two more game seven tomorrow. If only there were a way to get Marv Albert to call all five.

Ronald Reagan used to call baseball games over the radio by using wire reports and not even seeing the game.  If anyone can call all the games, it's Marv.

Shame the Blazers won in 6 - a game 7 in that series would have been epic.

Come on, ATL and Memphis. Fulfill your destinies!

If only there were some way to watch the Clippers with Ralph Lawler and Mike Smith announcing. Years ago when the Lakers would get co-opted by national TV broadcasts, out here the Laker fans would turn their TV to CBS (or whatever), turn the TV volume all the way down, and turn the radio to the Lakers AM broadcast station and listen to Chick Hearn call the game.

These days I watch most sports on the DVR. On the upside I can fast forward through all the commercials any halftime BS I'm not interested in. On the downside, I'm no longer able to use the radio to tune out the jerkoff TV announcers and listen to my local team's regular announcers.

TNT especially has this very annoying habit of interviewing some moronic celebrity at the beginning of the third quarter while the game is going on. The game gets shrunk to a small screen, and some idiot with a microphone shoved in his punchable face is blathering on about something most often not even related to basketball.

And some of TNT's announcers are just as bad. There's a game going on, Reggie Miller and Steve Kerr. I don't care about whatever happened to you guys 20 years ago. Any other time, I would like to hear about it. But, for right now, stick to the game.

They'd tell you what is going on in the game, but I don't believe Miller actually knows the rules of basketball.

Neither of these teams belong to be in the playoffs.

Vogel is afraid of him losing his "starter" status, for some reason

Atlanta without Horford would objectively be the worst playoff team to win a round in NBA history if they pulled it out today. Probably statistically as well.

I'm glad the Blazers won, and, as a Laker and Clipper fan, I love to hate the Blazer. Why am I glad the Blazers won? Because f*ck Dwight Howard, that's why. I hope he never wins so much as a playoff series with Houston. Most overrated center in the history of the game.

This is like the NCAA tournament broke out! Woot.

Hawks/Thunder/Clippers will win today.

Pretty sure it's been determined he has tape recordings of Vogel saying he doesn't want his wife to bring black people to the games. Hibbert is going to release them if he doesn't get playing time.

I like all the home teams tonight. After watching ATL in game 6, I can barely believe they won a single game in the series. They looked completely unprepared to deal with maybe winning the series.

OKC because no Zach. If he was playing, it would be really tempting to go with Memphis.

The Clippers because they're better. They should be over the bullshiat by now and realizing their potential to make the Finals.

Lance really wants to win. If only he could contain some of his excitement. Guy is like the Hulk. No controlling him.

PG looks pedestrian. Hibbert...sorta showing up.

They kicked the Pacers butts til now. But when you can't count on the three for 50% of your offense as usual...well...this.

Lance being Lance.

No, Lance is sitting, maybe for the rest of the game. This is the part where PG goes off.

God I hope the Pacers pull it off tonight. Stuck at work. Been keeping track through SportsCenter app on phone. I started paying more attention to them and that was when they started falling apart.

I think I cursed them LOL.

Been a Pacers fan for a long while, but my interest in NASCAR had really peaked and I stopped really paying attention to them (plus I was so disappointed in them after that lovely brawl).

NASCAR is slightly ebbing away from me (stupid France and stupid Chase format. Seriously the latest change to the Chase made me pretty upset) so been getting back into football and basketball more.

/sorry didn't mean to sob out a story
//forgive me
///go pacers

Yeah that's an indicator of how well things are going for Atlanta.

Hope you enjoy it, Subby.  In 10 years, you'll be out another $10,000 for the chance to watch the same 3-5 teams compete on the grandest of stages. NBA & MLB's pay TV money grab killed both sports for me.  I will not pay $1000/year to watch bad teams on TV.

If they had hit all their three-pointers, they would have 163 points.  Indiana would be out of the playoffs, Larry Bird would be banned from all future All-Star games, and Sarah Palin would be president.  I trust what the Hawks are doing right now.

Atlanta is just embarrassing riight now.  Lets go Thunder- Griz.
