Rigby-Reardon: On the photographers site he says that the daughters have to choose this not the fathers.Dad: honey at church they are going to be having a purity ball. I just wanted to let you know in case you did not want to burn eternally in a lake of fire for having intercourse before marriage.Daughter: ok dad thank for telling me.Dad: i just figured since you are still pure we might want to think about preserving your virginity. You are still a virgin right?Daughter: Yes dadDad: So do you want to go to the ball remain a virgin, or burn eternally in a lake of fire since you are not a virgin anymore?
Crewmannumber6: BarryTheMasterOfSandwich: Why are religious people so obsessed with sex?I really don't want to be the to defend these people but, they're not the ones projecting sex into this situation. Farkers are weird
Tom_Slick: sonofslacker: Tom_Slick: sonofslacker: Tom_Slick: Evil Mackerel: jayhawk88: Damn, every one of those girls looks like they're in a hostage situation. Which I guess probably isn't too far from the truth...They are and on many levels.Yup, and the second they are out of the house.....CSB; I have 2 coworkers with college age daughters, one's a religious nut job, one's a decent guy with hippie leanings, guess which one's daughter came home after her freshman year pregnant, covered in tats, and with 2 arrests for possession. Is this a trick question? It's the hippie one, amiright? The funny thing is I've known the hippie guy for since his kids were born (we've been bouncing around the same industry) you would expect his kids to be like him and his wife, pot smoking party animals. Nope his teenage daughters are both level headed responsible young people.Ha, this hits close to home. We were closer to the hippie stereotype then the religious nut job when our kids were born. They both are fairly responsible young people now and have told me to turn the music down more than once.Subjecting your children to "Freedom Rock" at high volume is a form of abuse.....
Phineas: Eh, it's no so creepy. This feels more like an excuse for liberal and anti-Christian people to bag on religion. Still waiting for the anti-Muslim/anti-Islam crowd to show up on Fark, but it's not PC. Is there a purity ball for Muslim fathers and their daughters? Or are the daughters even allowed to go to school / leave the house? It's both funny and sad how far out of their way libtards will go to bag on anything Christian and simultaneously defend Muslims.
madgonad: Nobody has mentioned the flip-side of Purity Balls.QuinceañeraThe generally quite religious and Catholic Hispanic culture actually celebrates a fifteen year old becoming a Woman and being 'open for business'.This reinforces my belief that Purity Balls are just an extension of the Anglo trend to want to control women at all times. It isn't about God. It is part of this weird system that they try to impose on the nation in which women are possessions - to be passed from one man to another - from birth to grave. Suffrage, careers, education, and birth control are other fronts on their struggle to control women.
unchellmatt: Ye gods... I've rarely seen more creepy pictures, and that's saying something. I don't think even /b/ could come up with more farked up shiat. Now I mean, I love my daughter. She's got nearly as much of an invective filled vocabulary as I do, and her big dream in life is to be the person who discovers what dark matter and dark energy really are (and frankly, considering her determination and skill at math / physics at the young age of 14, I have little doubt she may just do it). But I'd be fooling myself if I thought my making her sign some silly piece of paper would keep her from bedding some boy when she decides it's time. Sure, I educate her, sure we've had very frank discussions, and no I don't exactly make it all that easy for her to get a chance to do anything at this age. But when she finally does, I'd like to think she'll do it safely, without guilt or fear, or this barbaric, medieval concept that it makes her "dirty" or "impure".

lazymojo: I like the one with the oil pump in the background. nice metaphor. they can't get away from it!
Son of Thunder: corronchilejano: I don't see why this is creepy.(Not that I aprove of the concept)Me either. We've had enough "bad family photos" threads around here that these ones barely rate a flicker on my creepometer. It's what perception researchers call top-down processing. Perception is influenced by prior expectations, attitudes, and situational cues. So we start off with the "scary" tag and subby's "creepy" headline, follow it up with TFA's "creepy" headline, and TFA itself loading the reader up with the message that we will now look at creepy Christians looking creepy while at this creepy Christian thing because they're creepy, it's not surprising that a collection of blandly-awkward father-daughter pictures make some farkers say "wow, that's creepy".The Force can have a strong influence on the weak minded.

belhade: ...and for the father-daughter dance, the deejay put on "Sexual Healing".
The_Original_Roxtar: you know what really disturbed me about those pictures? the horrible color balance.
Witness99: This looks like a photo taken at a funeral. She looks like her mom just died and he looks like his wife just died.[flavorwire.files.wordpress.com image 620x775]
zimbomba63: "Anglo trend", huh? Broad-brush much, shiat-for-brains.
madgonad: the Anglo trend to want to control women at all times
flondrix: madgonad: the Anglo trend to want to control women at all timesI don't know where you get that from...feminism is a western white people thing. It's non-anglos who are performing clitordectomies, stoning women for getting raped, burning brides because the dowry wasn't big enough, etc.
Doctor Funkenstein: "Perfect. Take the picture shutter-boy. Eyes forward, sweetheart. Daddy's gonna strike oil."
qualtrough: What's with the washed out look to these images? Is that a new fad I missed?
heidinoele: /I was always taught that my vagina belonged to me and no one had the right to touch it without my permission.
Boojum2k: heidinoele: /I was always taught that my vagina belonged to me and no one had the right to touch it without my permission.I hope the rest of your body was also included in that statement, otherwise there's some unfortunate implications there.
oukewldave: He seems to be into holding her a little too much...
steklo: Ok, how did they get there without making footprints in the sand?
Rozotorical: What has been seen can not be unseen
