Fark Party
Host: Daddee
Description: Impromptu Invite - Farkers/TFers Welcome: Sat. 5.3.14, 9:30 PM, Joxer Daly's, Culver City
Date/Time: May 3, 2014 - 09:30 PM (local time)
Party Info: TFer Daddee welcomes you to an open party tomorrow night @ great neighborhood joint Joxer Daly's (11168 W. Washington Blvd., at Sepulveda). Music from the Old Johnsons (70s+ FM Radio rock and roll). Technically a birthday the band, but that's just the hook - it's open to everyone, fall by find me and say hello!

I will be hanging around anytime after 8 PM (celebrating my own birthday as well); look for a 6'2" bald guy wearing a t-shirt with drums printed on the front.

Tips on nearby food right on: Tito's Tacos and Johnnies for pastrami both long-time, legendary spots. The bar itself has good burgers and wings too.

Before the music starts, they will have Kings/Ducks game followed by Clippers/Warriors on all screens.

Do check parking signs, most side streets permitted parking only. Very small lot behind the bar, or roll the dice on large commercial lot nearby.

The post was last-minute thing, sorry, happy to welcome you in on the fly. Next time around a bit more heads-up...

@ fark parties in SoCal on the same night. Have you mentioned this to Vivian?

I meant to say 2 fark parties in SoCal

DayDreamingD: 2 fark parties in SoCal on the same night. Have you mentioned this to Vivian?

Vivian's party is about 60 miles east, and Fark-specific.  I'm just opening the door for Fark folks to an existing thing - which is open to everyone.  Is this gonna be a thing?  No harm intended...

Most time, people aren't going to travel that far for a party. You're fine.

I didn't think there was any harm, just wondering. Fyi, I am also a socal farker, so nice meeting you!

there can never be too many socal fark parties ...

2014-05-02 04:11:50 PM
I would re-name it impromptu.

2014-05-02 04:13:29 PM
I would imagine LA is big enough to handle two Fark-related parties on one night as long as they're geographically isolated.

Are you just trying to promote your event?

Most sane people. I have people coming from Toronto to Buffalo and fecking is coming from Florida. It is also at the end of July so they have time to plan. I also asked Drew but all I got was a maybe.

Not per se.  It really is just a big old open birthday party - I turned 55 last week.  I've been kicking around Fark for years off and on, and it just occurred to me to post the info here today for shiats and grins.

Happy to rename it or just plain take it down if there's any issues.  Just thought anyone on the west side with no plans might enjoy knowing where they can grab a drink, meet another TFer and hear some cool tunes.

As I've stated before so many times... Anyone can throw a Fark party. You don't have to be a moderator or an admin..

And I've always always always encouraged people to throw their own parties... That was the point.. To call awareness..

2014-05-02 04:19:25 PM
To put it another way re: promo?  There's nothing in it for me, no.

Oh okay :)

I know a couple of Farkers in the LA area and we actually tried to get a party going in culver city, it was either between a bar in culver city or the party at the Van Nuys airport... And as I've stated many many times--- there is only one of me... I can only throw so many at a time! But yes thank you, for making the effort I love this so very much! I only wish I could be there.

People definitely travel for parties. I'm just saying as far as locals go. No one wants to go to Riverside anyway.

It's not just the city of riverside we are aiming for it's the surrounding areas. Temecula is beautiful wine country. I've been asked to throw a Temecula Fark party...

It's about community involvement and outreach. I've met some really interesting and smart Farkers that HATE large cities. The point is to go to were they are. Meet new people, Farkers that also enjoy the website.

I grew up in Menifee, just outside of Temecula. Like I said, no one wants to go to Riverside.

Also, LOL at "throwing a Fark party."

Pick a bar. Meet there. Drink. It's not rocket science.

I'm happy to put something together a bit more planned out next time around, will check in with VivianV in advance and find a spot over here in the west that works.  Actually the same joint where my deal is tomorrow would be a cool location.

At any rate, if there ARE any folks that are nearby, bored, thirsty, wanna meet some new peeps or just dig 70s FM rock & roll played live, I'll be happy to greet you tomorrow night!

Right, that was my thinking, easy does it.

You don't have to check in with anyone. She's not the Fark Party Master. Plan your party and if you're lucky, she'll try to take it over and say she planned it and maybe she'll bring balloons.

Hey, cool. I can't make it out to Riverside at 6, but I can definitely do Culver City at 9:30. That means I can even take the bus and drink to my heart's content. OK, not really; I'm a lightweight, but hypothetically speaking...

Just a heads up that if you show up early it's going to be packed.  Joxers is a Kings bar, it's going to be loud.  I'm not sure about the weekends but beware of the side streets.  I picked myself up a n ice $60 parking ticket.  The side streets are permit from 5pm to 2am on weekdays at least but check the signs.

Dunno if I'll hang around that long, but I'll be there with friends for the game.

Also a food tip, go up Sepulveda to Johnnie's for a pastrami.  The ramen place 2 doors over from Joxers is very good too, but I'd pick Johnnie's any day of the week.

They might not come out so well on a busted cell phone camera with no flash. Perhaps someone in Daddee's crowd might have a real one.

Johnnie's is great, but I'd stop at Tito's.

Wow. Two parties in the LA ish area. Kinda wish someone would do one in the Ventura area (west end of the county). It's hard to travel and drink in L. A.

You do an amazing job; you're a natural event promoter. I'm wondering if you can actually create Fark parties for other places from where you're located. Or at least assist.

Like east coast and stuff? That would be awesome.

I think they have it covered with the regular Toronto, STL and NY parties. My goal was always Arizona and Oregon west coast area. I definitely won't turn down offers.

How did it go?

Can't speak for everyone, but I had a blast.  I did run into at least one Farker, had a bit of a chat - but it was crowded and very noisy with the Clipper game cranked up...all in all a fine evening.
