There isn't a marketplace out there for anti-capitalist music

It was only a matter of time before they would no longer have the money to run shows

I don't think there's a problem with their ability to fill venues. It sounds like the problem is that they don't want to play RATM songs.

Nobody cares what musicans' messages are, they only care if they like the songs. The bro-in-chief, Paul Ryan, loves RATM; he's hardly an anti-capitalist.

NIN/Soundgarden tickets at Red Rocks are way overpriced. Is this the new classic rock? Old '90s guys doing reunion tours playing shiat half as well as they did when they were young and still had spirit? The "platinum" seats in the first 5 rows are 500 farking dollars. Regular, back-of-the-ampitheater general seating left is over $100. 'Tis bullshiat.

He broke security guard's finger as they were trying to remove the petulant child from the arena. I'm sure there are better articles about it out there.

Oh, my.

A musician behaved poorly. That certainly never happens. But, holy shiat. If Limp Bizkit won an award you were competing for, you'd probably have some kind of episode as well. I'm thinking at least some kind of "what the hell am I doing this for" or something.

I think he's really mad because some guy he doesn't know broke some other guy's finger over something that doesn't matter.

He was clearly all about Limp Bizkit and is still upset the bass player from RATM upstaged them at the VMAs.

I saw them in 2000, it was a fun concert, lots of energy. I don't give a sh*t about their nutso commie politics but the FREE MUMIA papers being passed around were a little annoying.

Strangely I can't stand the sound of their music anymore, it just grates on my brain. I'm stuck back in grunge, sludge, and grimy-ass country.

only the sheeple.

Their first album was cool. It had a groove to it the others didn't. The rest was just whiny biatching. And they ran out of things to be mad at.

"The Whiskey Rebellion!  Yeahhhh!"

Shut up already. The machine made you rich, you douche. You are now part of the machine.

I always loved Rage, I appreciated their attempts at political statements via their music, and their campaigns.

I hated when the Houston Texans began using it for their defense, and calling the defense "Bulls on parade".  Especially since JJ Watt was the only one on defense doing anything significant, and they would celebrate on a standard tackle, then give up a 3rd and 20 EVERY GODDAMN TIME

/bitter Texans and Rage fan.

2014-05-02 01:40:35 PM
I enjoyed them before I became an adult and gained a perspective of the world based on actual experience.

2014-05-02 01:41:01 PM
At the end of the day I think of Rage as being like a time capsule. Their time has come and gone, and any big reunion or tour just bastardizes what they used to be.

2014-05-02 01:42:31 PM
I think it'd be poetic if they ended the band by setting themselves on fire.

2014-05-02 01:44:10 PM
Love the Rage, but its over.

I don't think they ran out of things to be mad at, they just started getting mad at things that don't translate well musically, like; kids on their lawn, speeders, bad tasting fiber boosters, beetus insurance, etc...

2014-05-02 01:44:40 PM
So they're double dog retired? Wasn't the last album from 2000? I'm sure Paul Ryan is inconsolable, anyway.

Poorly considered hipster politics isn't really "standing for something". We get it, you're angry about the world, but trite cliche's about THE MAN or THE SYSTEM get old fast.

Personally I felt they were just one trick ponies.

Maybe they could have put out a song about how their hedge funds and 401ks were doing.

They were among my favorite bands for a good minute.  Saw them live, along with Wu-Tang Clan, of all people.  That said, i haven't listened to them in probably a decade.  Raging seems like a pre-9/11/ Iraqi war type of thing to do.

good headline subby, btw.

I wonder what they are up to these days?  Probably sitting in their mansions jerking off into caviar.

2014-05-02 01:52:55 PM
rage against the machine is awesome but thank god they didn't try to do a new album.  their music and their message just do not translate well to the year 2014.  rap/rock became a joke a long time ago, and any kind of political lyrics are seen as preachy these days.  i'm glad they got back together for the reunion shows, but i'm also glad they realized they were no longer relevant and anything new they made would be a pale imitation of their old stuff.

Yeah that first album is meant to be listened to loud. I use to have a pair of 15's in my car when it came out, fun one to crank up.

2014-05-02 02:01:19 PM
Love me some Rage. Was always kind of hoping they'd do one more album. On the bright side, rumor is Tool REALLY is putting out a new one soon. Summer of '93, Sober and Killing in the Name dominating the radio, aahh, good times.

2014-05-02 02:01:24 PM
Saw them at VooDoo Fest in 2007,l they put on a spirited show, but for the large part their fan base is idiotic at best.

Pre-show, some jack ass was spouting of about how we should have free love and free houses and free drugs and free food in the forest (his words not mine) then got the shiat kicked out of him.

My glasses flew off my face at a show and I figured they were gone for good.  An incredibly cool person saw them land and handed them back to me.

But yeah, there are definitely some knuckleheads at their shows.

/that was about 13 or 14 years ago
//had NO clue they were together recently
///thought zach was living in a commune or something these days
