See, this is why kids today lack motivation. Here are some young people showing entrepeneurial savvy and they are punished for it. Way to go Iowa!

They'll probably be pretty popular when they get back to school. Probably get a lot of tail. Assuming they survive juvie.

No distribution charges?  DEA must be going soft.

Oh come on, that's intent to distribute and/or trafficking.

I have no idea how they thought they would get away with it.  I've heard that when you cook cannabis the entire house is filled with a very distinct odor that takes a while to get rid of.

So glad this isn't coming out of Colorado. So tired of the "see... see what happens when you legalize marijuana?!?"

/of course, they probably got the marijuana from CO

Now were they using the oil to make butter or just dumping weed in there?

Damn it we were just trying to put the economics back into Home Ec.

Do they know you don't just throw actually marijuana into cookie dough to make pot cookies right? They are made from using marijuana oil that's put into butter... well atleast that's what I learned from a friend. Not from personal experience. Totally not from that.

It's a drug charge. When they get out they would get arrested for having sex with minors. I mean 50 year olds going after 16year old tail won't end well for them.

Burlington Police say concerned students notified staff members at Edward Stone Middle School that some students were bringing marijuana into the school.

yes you can, and as long as you don't end up eating too much of the dough they're pretty good.
Or so i'm told.

Well distribution requires that they are in possession of a designated amount, or at least "intent to distribute" is. In the military we busted a kid for having a ton of that fake "SPICE" stuff and he was just shy of being charged with intent to distribute.

the media has been insinuating that legal pot is going to push more kids into smoking and doing drugs. In colorado o'riley spoke on this 4th grader who brought weed to school, weed he stole from his grand parents. The outrage was this would have neverhappened if weed was illeagle. Since gramps smokes I should take weed to school/ Bill wanted this to be the argument behind criminalizing weed. Then the same logic should be used for booze, guns nd cigs all of which kids can get from home and bring into school.

Decriminlize weed and get it off schedule 1

That, and every self-respecting pot cookie maker knows you're supposed to grind it and simmer it in butter, then use the butter in your cooking.

Not that I know this from experience.

When I was stationed in Korea we had a ring of guys that got in huge trouble because of Spice and K2.  They got caught by Korean customs getting it mailed in, and the Army turned them over to the Koreans.  They prosecuted it the same way they would have prosecuted them for importing cocaine.

That's exactly what I've heard as well.  From further research I found that many people enjoy using a chocolate mint cookie recipe to complement the flavors of the pot.

Or so I heard.

Knowing the cops they will be charged with the weight of the dough and not the weight of the actual weed in the dough.

You can, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. Our digestive systems can't really break down raw marijuana, so if you just dump it into some food you'll only absorb a small fraction of the THC.  That's why most people cook it into butter or oil first so our bodies can break it down and get all of the active ingredients.

/ never actually made or ate any edibles
// but I've seriously looked into it, obviously

I remember the teacher taking issue with me bringing a bottle of wine in to cook with. They questioned my culinary ability when I took a swig instead of pour it into the saute pan, "but it's how mommy does it!" was all I could reply.

Whew. Not my nephew.
He'll get busted and kicked out of school for SOMEthing, because he's a teenaged boy who thinks he has ninja skills and he doesn't know how to shut his mouth. I'm just glad that it wasn't today, and it wasn't for this.

Besides they were doing all wrong.

1). You DON'T PUT pot directly in the cookies, you cook it with melted butter thus producing cannabutter.
2). You put LIBERAL amounts of the above butter in the cookies. Cook it but not for to long otherwise you just a funky tasting cookie with no real effect.
3). DON'T DO IT IN SCHOOL. Don't these kids have kitchens at home?

2014-05-02 02:34:15 PM
Also, we've been adding weed (actual plant material) to edibles long before you kids decided to go foodie and make a butter with it first. There's fats and oils in the mix already. If you are worried about a bit of green in your teeth, you need to smoke a bowl first and relax.

Making butter isn't the right way, it's just ANOTHER way.

Marijuana butter has been around for decades, it's not some new trend by those darn kids that won't get off your lawn.

In the interest of accuracy, I would like to add that they didn't actually get the cookies made.  The dough was made one day and was supposed to be baked the next.  And the kids were supposedly selling/distributing the weed on the school bus.

When the school board was tossing around possible names for the school a few years back, there was a pretty big backlash against this one.  Parents feared that the students would be nicknamed, "The Stoners."  Is that ironic?  I can never tell.
