FTA: "if a player wins over her opponent in one play, her probability of repeating ..."

How is gender reversal any better than "he"? Is "their" not acceptable/preferable?

If writing for technical purposes or official documents, or in a scientific paper, yes. When talking casually it is fairly normal to use the pronoun that would apply to yourself.

Dog Welder: Always pick rock.  Nothing beats rock.

I think I read a study once that said males tend to pick rock for their first throw at a higher percentage. Paper is the way to go.

It's true, and the more "alpha" the guy is, the better the chance that he'll throw rock first. After all, it's the toughest of the three.

I won many, many bouts in my Army years by starting out with paper.

My strategy is called "The Diplomat". Just keep throwing paper after paper.

It takes a brief moment of thought to stick out exactly two fingers from an otherwise closed fist... so most people don't do that the first time. That's why paper is relatively safe the first few times.

Using "they/their" for the singular is stupid, although apparently acceptable.* Using he/him/his or she/her/hers is fine so long as you are consistent (in general).

/"it", goddamit. The singular gender-neutral is "it"
