Good. Enabling our computers to potentially become overwrought with internal ideological conflict will make them vulnerable to propaganda in the coming robot war.

Do you want to have just one argument, or were you thinking of taking a course?

Subby that's not an argument, that's just contradiction.

Kelly asked the Debater to provide arguments for and against this statement: The sale of violent videogames to minors should be banned. The contraption scanned 4 million Wikipedia articles and narrowed them down to a handful that seemed most relevant. Then, in a synthesized voice, it spit out answers.
Among the reasons to support a ban: "Exposure to violent videogames can cause adolescents to commit acts of aggression in real life," the Debater explained. "On the other hand," it went on, "the sale of violent videogames to minors has not been causally linked with aggressive tendencies." Doing the research and rattling off several statements, pro and con, took about 45 seconds.

They really need to just teach it farkeze because it would be more efficient and faster than 45 seconds to just show the WTHITS Picard pic.

And the source it uses to back up the arguments is Wikipedia? That's the best they could do?

I thought we already had a few 'bots around here? For example: whenever there's an evolution thread.

Was Fark the proving ground for this technology?

It may still be an apprentice debater, instead of a master debater.

That's why we haven't seen him lately. He's transcended with the newest upgrade.

Ask it to debate a paradox and it will self-destruct.

(I learned that trick from Capt. Kirk)

So IBM has created a female computer.

Is it always right?

Although its ability to formulate a coherent argument seems to be facile at best ("On the one hand, (premise X), but on the other hand (statement totally negating X)"), this thing's ability to parse written language sounds like it could be a godsend for machine translation, even if it's only 80 or 90 percent accurate.
