The directors of the Canucks' front office hired to continue the team after the other people had been sacked, wish it to be known that they have just been sacked.

The team has been coached in an entirely different style at great expense and at the last minute.

I lost a bet because Torts lasted longer than Melrose.

Who didn't see Tortorella as a complete disaster for the Canucks from the day it was announced?

Wait...they gave Torts a five year deal?

So, the GM trades away a young #1 starting goaltender before he gets there and never drafted for depth, loses Henrik and/or Daniel Sedin, and others, for extended periods of time, was muzzled for the media, and he's the problem?  OK, I guess.

NBCSN needs to hire Torts immediately before the Canadian networks get him.

Yeah, I really feel like Totorella got screwed.  I would've given him another year, but I can also understand why Linden dumped him.  Either way, I'm hoping Torts gets another shot somewhere else.  Nashville actually seems like it could be a good fit.

IMDWalrus: Totorella got screwed

I'm willing to bet he was already on the chopping block after he was suspended for picking fights in the opposing team's locker room. They just waited until now to tell anyone.

I could see that.

Courtney Love's Genital Warts: I'm willing to bet he was already on the chopping block after he was suspended for picking fights in the opposing team's locker room. They just waited until now to tell anyone.

If that were my coach, it would probably endear me to him, and I would work that much harder for the guy.

I am not sure that I would want Torts to coach here in Florida (assuming that he would even want to come to Sunrise).

There has to be someone out there that is better...

That Penguins hat is on the wrong person in the pic though. Soon enough maybe.

Tortorella isn't a coach... he's a future Don Cherry getting his credentials squared away.  He's too much of an emotional gabby douchebag to be a coach that players can respect.  And clearly he doesn't have the ability to make a team anything greater than the sum of its parts.

I've much rather see him in a studio than on a bench.  He'd be pretty entertaining as a colour guy or studio-bound analyst.

On the sports channels last night, the list of people to replace him mostly included guys fired by other teams, and one guy who hasn't been fired yet, but they're assuming he will be.

Can he play a piano desk?

Torts: Everyone on this team blocks shots. Every time the Rangers made the playoffs half the team was on the injured list.

If Torts goes into the broadcasting business then I hope ESPN hires him as an analyst. That way theres a chance that Torts will walk into the studio some day, blow a gasket, and beat Skip Bayless half to death before anybody can pull Torts off him.

It'll be great in a couple of years when PK's brother is the starting keeper.

It was one thing to hire Torts, but then when they signed him to a FIVE YEAR deal....holy crap.

He'll probably get hired by another team before the contract ends, but still.....
