(Entertainment Weekly)   Mark Hamill tweets about the table reads of Episode 7. Claims all the new people are talentless hacks who don't deserve their parts. Just kidding, he claims nothing but praise and states the property is in good hands   (popwatch.ew.com) divider line 95

Mark Hammil is the best guy ever.

First he's Luke Skywalker, the The Joker, and then 100 other beloved characters.

He's going to say that regardless. Professionals don't slag the production they're on while they're still shooting.

But did he shag Carrie Fisher when she was young?

(I am thinking Harrison Ford did)

(and the guy who played Chewbacca - while in full suit)

When Harrison Ford says the same, I'll pay more attention.  Let's face it, the price for Hamill is a lot less than Ford.

"Claims nothing but praise" is just bad headline writing.

Just keep JJ Abrams away from the script. They have the guy who wrote Empire and Raiders, he doesn't need your input, JJ.

He also wrote Continental Divide (John Belushi's forgotten final movie) and Dreamcatcher (though that's mostly Stephen King's fault).

As compared to the "actors" for Eps I - III?

I'll believe it when I see it.  That having been said, Disney rarely f*cks it up.  They're not perfect, but they usually do a decent job.

it's funny because subby's headline has you first thinking one thing, and then they change gears and say just kidding and then they tell you what really happened.

such a unique, funny, and fresh way to compose a headline.

Excelsior!

He wrote one episode of Lost (the first one) and did not write either of the ST films (that was Orci, Kurzman and Lindelof who were also largely responsible for Lost coming off the rails)

And let us not forget Lindelof's responsibility for the hot mess that was "Prometheus".

His sad devotion to that ancient Jedi religion has not helped Disney conjure up the a better script, or given them enough clairvoyance to find the hidden market demographics...

Orci and Kurtzman have also not been getting very good reviews on The Amazing Spiderman 2, either. The general consensus seems to be the movie is a hot mess. That's a shame, because it seemed like they were finally doing the Gwen Stacey storyline right after Raimi botched it by introducing Mary Jane as the original love of his life and Gwen as a rebound.

Note to Abrams: Please don't put the kibosh on the cast's social media use once production is in full swing!

In related news, there are still people naive enough to believe product promotions are spontaneous.

Star Trek TNG improved once Gene Roddenberry lost final creative say on it.  I predict a similar improvement will occur now that George Lucas had to fork over the reins.

He spoke several times more lines as the Joker than he did as Luke Skywalker, and was much better as the Joker than he was Luke. I've heard it said, and must agree, that he did a better Joker with just his voice than Jack Nicholson did with his whole body.

/But not as good as Heath Ledger, though, really, that was an entirely different character with the same name.

Actually, he is probably right, give Disney the benefit of the doubt, they know how to treat their prized properties.

Where would we without any of the classic Joe Flynn films. They know their antagonists.

Gene was on the way out as early as Wrath of Kahn. I would argue Nicholas Meyer saved the franchise.

Wait, what in the fark does this mean?  It sounds like some kind of sign/countersign between spies.

While I'm here...Would someone explain why Peter Mayhew was at the table reading? Is it just a nice gesture to include him? Would he actually have had anything to do? Just curious.

Alien3 was the low point for me because they killed off the possibility held by the comics. Someone call JJ to reboot that one!
