Good.

This is an excellent thing, and I hope he does more of it. And the other SBC preachers too. To their heart's content.

Because it will be worth it to hear their screeching when they lose their tax-exempt status. And have to pay taxes on all those buildings, etc. Watching them bankrupt themselves to support the derp will teach them a badly needed lesson in poverty and humility.

They knew it was wrong and yet they thought they wouldn't have gotten caught.

Wait a second, that could also be a plus for obvious.

Ok, then I say its a toss-up

Well, he's claiming they aren't campaign stops, and that he needs money because he isn't working, because he's campaigning.  So you see, they aren't donations to his campaign, they are donations so he can live while he's campaigning.  It's totes different.

"I've spoken to those things the Bible deals clearly with, on issues of sanctity of life, sanctity of marriage," Harris said.

So you're going to ban divorce?

"I think the Bible speaks to the issue of debt and the biblical principal of national debt and the gross immorality we're doing with $17.5 trillion of debt we're leaving on the backs of our children and grandchildren."

What bible passages are those from?

When is the last time a church lost their tax-exempt status? The IRS handles them with kid gloves and they get away with murder because if they did anything it'd be all "ZOMG GOVERNMENT RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION!!!"

As an atheist, my support for a more Christian-based government increases based on making Deuteronomy 15:1 the law of the land.

Yup.  Look at Republican voters' screaming butthurt over the Cliven Bundy affair, and that wasn't even a religious issue.  If the IRS goes after (Protestant) churches, no matter how egregiously they're breaking the law, the streets will run red with blood.

Never happen.  No politicians or cops got the grapes to actually enforce that law.  "Prosperity Christians" have been grinding that law into the dirt publicly for ages now, and nobody ever does anything.

well, many, many years ago I declared bankruptcy in Virginia. had to go to bankruptcy court and everything. I got absolved of all my debts up to that point.. By law, I was not allowed to declare bankruptcy again for seven years.. at least not the same KIND of bankruptcy.

also.. after 7 years.. after staying debt free.. the whole "bankruptcy" thing came off my "permanent" record.

Damn. You are just stupid if you think any of that bothers us FarkLibz. I mean really.
Ok. So a person that serves our country attends a church.
Not a single problem with that.
I don't necessarily agree with the morality, but that's not the issue here.
It's simple.
You cannot raise funds for a political cause without having skin in the game.
For a church, that means you lose some of your tax exemptions, but now you're free to become a 'people,' you know, like a corporation.

That's it, that's all, that's all there is-

Bear in mind-
we all fall behind-
from time to time.

And all that.
But, man, what is this righteous prosperity gospel bullshiat?
Just another analogous group of people that think they're superior because white, or Christian, or some such.

Pure bullshiat. That way they can ruin other people's lives and dream that they are mighty warriors on a crusade to cleanse the earth.

Never going to happen. Never. If they didn't go after the Mormon Church for prop 8 in California, then the IRS doesn't have the balls to go after a more mainstream Baptist Church.
