Are you sure that isn't Polish nail dryers?

I swear, I got my first nail polish ever just this morning. And of course this hits this afternoon.

Bryan Williams was just talking about this on NBC like 4 minutes ago.

Of course, it comes as no surprise that constant UV exposure has side effects. Even the article notes not many people go that often.

What's wrong with just using a hair dryer?

Lol. It says to put sunscreen on before your manicure. The polish has got to be worse for you.

If you're in a California polluted city,  and you get your nails done,  you are practically dead.

I just got a manicure for the first time in my life last weekend. I didn't really want to, but I was a bridesmaid and did what the bride said. Anyway, I found the whole process terribly confusing. Relax your hands. Now put your wrists on the foamy thing. No, now bring your hands closer to me. Now I'm going to use the little pointy thing to get rid of your cuticles. Now put your hands near the fan. But not too close to the fan. All the other girls knew the drill, but I was just plain confused. It was like visiting a Catholic Church when you don't know when to sit, stand, or kneel. So confusing.

I was given a gift certificate for my birthday once for a free manicure. I'm not really a girly girl, but I'd never had one before, and was curious what all the fuss was about. The whole business was owned and run by a very strict Vietnamese family who often spoke to each other in the parlor in their own language, so for all I know they were making fun of me.

I had the same issue with the routine (having never had one before), but it's the closest I ever felt to being an American P.O.W. in a Viet Cong re-education facility.

Manicures really aren't that dangerous.  the uv exposure may be intense (if they use the lamp, for the gel curing) but most places use the fan. it's not high on the list of things that will kill you. it's just a slow news day. and i love manicures and nail polishes. if that's the way i go, then that's the way i go.

They can have my gel polish when they pry it from my cold, dead hands.  Two weeks easily without a chip and still shiny.

/may still put on sunscreen before I change out polish, though
//do my own

As opposed to Polish male blowers. Boy do they get the job done.

Nail polish takes a hell of a lot longer than 2 minutes to dry completely, and until it is the slightest thing that touches the nail will screw up the polish, which kinds of negates the whole point of the manicure.

Use a fan, then soak nails in a bowl of ice water for 90 seconds per hand. Works like a charm.

If this confuses you, how on earth do you navigate the rest of your life?

Your words are baffling to me, stranger, and fill me with apprehension.

You can't just wait a few minutes? How much of a freaking hurry are you in?

I know right.  Because if I don't get a weekly manicure, I can't keep fixing stuff around the house or maintain my truck.  Seriously, I'm sure many people go through life without the dealings of manicures.  It isn't a life skill.

/I don't think my sis bothered with a manicure for her own wedding.

I'm constantly giving myself manicures. I take pride in my nails. And the polish I use dries in under a minute, I was being generous. The only polish I've ever used that didn't dry quickly on its own was something that came with Barbie when I was six, and that just straight up didn't dry. What the hell do they use in salons?

This! Plus my cuticles get so dry and ragged.

Skynet was much more impressive in the movies than in real life.
