Or rather Congressional Republicans publish misleading information and the Echo Chamber repeats it endlessly.

You know, there are also those that enrolled but just want the IRS to collect it for them for vs. reasons and so they are not going to pay.

If Obamacare is so bad, why do Republicans have to always lie about it?

In fact, why do Republicans have to lie about EVERYTHING?

Complete Government take over of healthcare - Bullshiat!
Too many people will sign up! rationing!! - Bullshiat!
Everyone is losing their current healthcare plans - bullshiat!
The Exchange is a failure no one is going to sign up - Bullshiat!
Now: No one is going to pay

Serious how many times do they need to be wrong for people to start ignoring them?

Think of them as children.  Very mean and very angry children.  They never quite learned to think or reason, but they have gut feelings (usually anger); don't blame them, their brains literally developed differently.  There really isn't any way to teach them; as someone said earlier on FARK, they only learn when their own stupidity costs them physical pain or financial loss.

2014-05-01 07:47:47 PM
The really funny part is - even if this number were actually accurate, which it isn't, when you'd sum up all the people now being insured via exchanges, other private coverage, on their parents' plans, and via Medicaid, this would STILL be the best thing to happen to the number of uninsured in the past 40 years.

At this point, you're not even arguing success or failure, you're arguing about degree of success.

Yeah. I have realized they will never use logic to come to conclusions. It's very frustrating because how are you ever going to reason with people like that. They have a view of the world based on what is good for them and what the people they identify with say and no amount of evidence will change their mind.

This is a big challenge to the idea that Democracies will come up with a good outcome as long as you have free debate. For a large portion of the populace (I would say about 25-30%) it is untrue. And they are the ones who go out and vote.

It's not the Daily Caller alone, it's the report from the House Committee. In their report, which reads as heavily partisan, they even say that many people have until May 20th to pay their premiums. They just released the report now as a "status update" and they will end up releasing their final report in a few weeks.

Of course, no one will read the second one.

Because the people that give them financial and political support want desperately to believe in fiction that confirms their beliefs and busses,

Kinda like religion. Actually, exactly like religion.

Troll answer: They lie because republican voters have faith. Something that liberals just wouldn't understand.

Sgt Otter: I wonder where the "The ACA is a failure" goalposts will be next month.

I would bet on "There aren't enough hospitals and doctors on the 0bamacare insurance panels to immediately absorb the tidal wave of sheeple who were suckered into buying plans on the exchanges. You've got insurance, but you can't find anybody that takes it.  HAW HAW!"

Shortly after that will be a rant from a doctor, furious to find him/herself on an 0bamacare insurance panel, stating "[Health insurance provider] tricked me! They sent out a card that said "Check this box and return it if you do not want to be included in the list of providers for our 0bamacare exchange plans". Nobody pays attention to a letter mailed to you by an insurance company unless it contains a check, so I just threw it away.  I didn't know that you had to opt OUT of 0bamacare.  Now when a poor or a minority calls my office and says they want an appointment, I *have* to offer them one, because I'm on the provider list.  If I refuse to see an 0bamacare subscriber I'm violating the terms of my contract with the insurance company, and I'll lose their paying patients!  CURSE YOU 0BAMA!  It's a sad day for freedom when 0bamacare has to resort to trickery to forcibly conscript doctors!"

After that, it will be "Sheeple who thought they'd be getting "affordable health care" are now shocked to discover that the 0bamacare plans with low premiums have high deductibles and co-pays. WHERE IS YOUR "FREE" HEALTH CARE NOW, LIBTARDS?"

I should bookmark this post and trot it out it in a few months to humblebrag about my prescience.

I'm thinking overseas coverage.  Somebody will have a heart attack while checking out Hollands red light district, the paperwork will hit a snag and the GOP will have their new smoking gun.

2014-05-01 09:15:26 PM
One big caveat here: Because they're only looking at states that use the federal exchange, they're missing the numbers from states that run their own exchanges - which include hugely populous behemoths like California and New York. If those states are seeing higher rates of payment, for whatever reason, then the payment rate nationally is actually higher than this. We'll need to wait and see.
