Help! everyone, talk me out of getting another cat.
I admit I have a calico addiction.
I have more than I can afford right now.
Li-Ion is a psycho around Cassie, another female is not a good idea.
Will Cassie take to a very young lady?
I may have already named her and I haven't even met her yet.
It's not a good idea, It's not a good idea, It's not a good idea.

Have to got o bed now, I will check back in the morning.

Is that like trying to talk me out of more eyeliner and nail polish? When they're all on sale? And I have coupons?

So, what's her name and when is she coming home?

This is another 4 day weekend for me! Yes, I planned that for after our big sale.  I'm going to do some grilling if it kills me!!! I already bought a rack of ribs, and some brats for another day! I even got me some sauerkraut!! YUM!

I have a longtime family recipe for homemade sauerkraut if you'd like it.

May I please haz teh sauerkraut recipe?

Hai SG!!! Good to see you! Hope Buddy is still eating like a champ!

Thanks, good to see you too!

His appetite has levelled off a little bit in the past couple days.  He wouldn't eat lunch today at all, but it is unusually warm and humid out.  He did eat a big breakfast though.  And lots of treats.  :)  Either way he's still consuming a respectable amount and seems quite contented otherwise so we'll just roll with that.

Hope you're feeling much better soon!  I hate those soggy head-colds.  I'm a side-sleeper so when I come down with that kind of thing I have to wake up once an hour and turn myself over so the sopping full side of my face can drain while the empty side takes a turn getting full.  Blargh!  :op

I assume you are having no problem drinking plenty of fluids.  :)

Take care and hang in there.

Sounds really good, but I am way too lazy for that. Plus I only eat a little bit about once a year. Thanks though! I'm sure some of the other folks here would really like that!

Ok, if any of you would like it (it's a bit labor-intensive, but most good things are) I will post it here.

I'd be interested in the recipe too. There's a Sauerkraut Festival in one of the nearby towns each year, cabbage is still a big crop here in upstate NY. One of my best friends from high school is on the committee of the Phelps Sauerkraut Weekend. They've got plenty of recipes in the link for cooking with sauerkraut, none for making it yourself. Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake anyone?

I'll assume you're not going to make as much as we do. Say 4 or 5 heads of cabbage (We usually end up using 12 or 15). If you are going to make a large batch, just use a larger container---10 gallons or so.

Shred cabbage into a 5 gallon bucket, til it's about 4" deep.

Put 2 or 3 teaspoons each of sugar and pickling (not table) salt and sprinkle in.
Then pound the mixture with some sort of mallet til you hear juice. This pounding is key--otherwise all you have is shredded cabbage with salt and sugar on it.

Repeat until bucket is full. Cover with cheesecloth wrapped tightly over the top (tucked down the inside edge of the bucket), a large slab of wood on top, and a large rock for weight.

Store in a warm place, and check it every 2 or 3 days to skim off the top foam. Should be ready in about 3 weeks. Then keep cool from then on. (but not frozen---put it in the fridge or a cold room--shed or entryway would work).

For cooking, low heat for about 6 hours. A crock pot is ideal. Spareribs or hot dogs can be
subbed for pigs hocks, which are hard to find. Don't buy the smoked ones at your local supermarket; they suck. (the hot dogs obviously don't need to cook 6 hours).

QJ, I wish the best.....

I hope tomorrow is going to be quiet. We were woken up by the police warning us of a possible evacuation due to a bomb. The wife immediately took the teenager to school. Good thing because they soon thereafter forbade all traffic on the road. So he got to school. Eventually things were cleared up. We just got back from the humane society where one of the volunteers with us was all upset. Apparently she saw a hawk this morning grab her neighbor's cat. She said the cat's screams being carried off and were just awful. Another reason to keep your cats inside. In our area as well mainly due to coyotes.

lilyspad, hope you get some antibiotics and feel better in time to enjoy your grillin' weekend!
I'm not a doctor, don't play one on TV, nor did I sleep at a Holiday Inn last night, but it does sound like a sinus infection.
Do you have access to tea tree oil (health food store)?
Dab a small amount on the sinus areas (brow, under eye), and under your nose.
It really does help with drainage.

I've also heard good things about a neti pot (although it's kinda gross)...just be sure to use DISTILLED water! It involves pouring it up your nose...you don't need MORE unfriendly stuff getting into your system (mucous membranes are kinda permeable that way).

Giving all this unsolicited advice cos my magic wand has been confiscated and I can't help directly...wish I could.

q_j...you're in my thoughts with wishes for good results, a short stay, and only as much mayhem as you choose to start.
Anybody close enough to send you hushpuppies? Unless you're on a restricted diet they'll let you have outside food...
at least they did my ex-sig other... >:-D
Seriously, wishing you WELL.

Cats are fed in prep for going to work: D'Artagnan gets roast chicken breast, Wimsey has canned chicken 'n' liver, Raven gets tuna primavera, and Riktor gets a mix of all three.
Everyone but Wimsey gets a dash of olive oil on their food...he doesn't care for it, thank you.

I ain't that "experienced", but I did get my "feeling old" kick today when I found out some of my old cosmetics are now "vintage" and highly sought after. Unfortunately, they are nail polish, and you won't even be able to pry those from my cold, dead hands. But hey! Thanks for the reminder that I need to make enchiladas Monday for Cinco de Mayo!

John Buck 41: Ms MacGyver: Hi, all.

I've been a lurker since 2008 and just signed up for TF today.  Every Monday morning I so look forward to viewing the Caturday page to make the Monday morning at work more bearable.

I'm posting now to ask a question - my cat, Nutmeg, will follow me into the bedroom after I shower every morning and demand to groom me.  Like, she is on the bed meowing fiercely, sits up on her haunches, stretches out her paw and grabs my face in order to give me a groom.  Usually on my chin or between my eyes.  Any thoughts?

She REALLY likes you?

I hope so. My lap is the only one she sits on, too!

Thank luluja!  Blue is cute approximately 30 minutes of each day.  Caught him on one of those for that photo.

For all the people who offered suggestions last week about the nuclear Jasper poo:

OlderGuy, akimbotoo, The Ice Queen, Bathia_Mapes, mousiebelle, CAT-LIKE TYPING DETECTED, reigning.cats.and.dogs, L33t Squirrel, domari, ktybear, Typhoid, VOCSL5, RadicalEd, laulaja, and syzygy whizz

After five days on Hill's prescription W/D, he's at least dropping uh, solid stuff.  He still smells like an animal the rest of the barnyard would kick out, but at least he has solid poo.  It's not grain free (it's mostly rice) but it's low fat and free from most of the crap in regular cat food.  Thank you all for the suggestions since I'll almost certainly have to try something else if this stops working :)

So here's Jasper inside a giant desk I had made in Thailand - a drawer stop warped and I'm trying to bend it down with some books.  He cares not:
