Oh, congrats! Were you trying to lose weight? I am so bad at the losing weight thing. I lost some weight, then gained some back. Then I lost another weight or some and gained some of that back. So I'm still down some pounds, but not like a normal person who is supposed to be losing weight would be. But that's ok! I'm gonna die some day anyway and then I truly will no longer give a crap, because then the weight will come off naturally. It really does all work out in the end!

Thank you!  She's finally coming out of her shell a bit - she's got severe anxiety issues and the shelter gave her to me (no adoption fees) just to ensure she was in a good home so they wouldn't have to euthanize her.  She's been here since late January and is starting to play now, both with toys and with the other kitties.  Progress - slow, but definitely progress!  I hope she'll eventually grow out of the need to overgroom until she's bloody, poor girl...  such a love!  She adores my daughter and gives her big (claw-filled) hugs whenever she comes over.  Daughter lives across the hall, so Mollie sees her almost every day.

Second, the girls in MP training are indeed graduated, but I have been begging (nagging) my friend for updates and or otherwise any info without viable success. She's being very elusive which isn't very odd as many EMS folk are notoriously hard to get ahold of...
Just got this from micromedic. She is trying to get updated addresses...... I guess we just wait on that for now.

lilyspad: Real Women Drink Akvavit: I'm gonna die some day anyway

But we don't want it to be anytime soon, dear!!! :D

Well, I guess instead of staring at the refrigerator I should look within for these magical things called "nutrients", huh? Cuz I have had nothing today but a tiny bag of Funyuns and a very fancy spiced dark chocolate bar. (and coffee, but that's a given for me)

OlderGuy: Real Women Drink Akvavit: OlderGuy: TGIC !    Hey folks.. it actually stopped raining here.. yesterday afternoon the weather goddess had mercy on us and split east and west.. they got pounded, we got some sun.... water table seems to be 3" under the ground...

Lucky you! Not so lucky us who really, really, really need some rain. It's in the 90's here and we're in a drought. :'-(

Remind me how upset I was about the drought when winter rolls around and I'm sitting on my roof watching the neighborhood wash away. El Nino is here this year and I'm on a flood plain. :-/

Have you had localized flooding out that way this year? I've heard when the water table is so shallow like that, it can be hell on things like, oh, the foundation to your house when it rains, even if it's not too terribly much. That would be really sucky right there.

[pussybewet.files.wordpress.com image 500x375]

Everything around here is a sponge... apparently most of the neighborhood used to be a swamp.. the side street by my house was a short dead end .. my house and the one across the street face the former dead end street, but our addresses are for the main street intersecting.. everything downhill from me is flat and slow to drain.. I have an underground creek under my back yard, which keeps my grass green the entire summer, while everybody else has brown crunchy lawns..  the daycare two doors down brings the kids to my yard to play, which is ok.. and no dogs, so no land mines to navigate.... Fred does his thing in the mulch around back, so no problems there...   I have a full basement, and the sump pump runs a lot.. even have a backup pump installed for real heavy rains....  no foundation issues yet....

An underground creek? Does it actually come above ground at some point further away? That would be kinda cool!

I also totally just pictured you as the neighborhood water baron in case of drought.

I hear that's how you're supposed to do it! Unfortunately, I see the doctor every month at least and they weigh me there. Bah! Oh, well. I always manage to drown my sorrows in a non-fat, sugar free iced mocha with an extra shot of espresso and NO WHIP on my way home. Before it used to be just "mocha", so I'm getting better. A wee bit. In tiny bursts. lol!

Wall of text alert

I had another appointment at the cardiologist today.
I had to stop for a blood test before going to the appointment.
It turned into a roller coaster ride and I just about have whiplash from all the twists and turns.
This is gonna be one of those TMI things, so you may want to skip to the next Weeners...
I got out without any further braids.
I was told that since we weren't having any luck with all the diuretics, they were going to admit me to the hospital.
"OK, you're the doctor..."
She went off to get stuff arranged and left me sitting in the exam room.

I sent a text to several friends to let them know.
I also called the neighbor across the street to let her know she was going to need to feed Mr. Kitty.
Shortly after I got all that handled, she came back in and told me there was a change of plans.
They wanted to do another 80mg IV diuretic, bump my diuretic pills and see me again Monday.
"OK, you're the doctor..."
I sent out another text saying there was a change of plans and that they were going to be letting me go home after all.
I called the neighbor across the street back to let her know she wouldn't need to feed Mr. Kitty after all.

A gal came in and inserted an IV, set out the paraphernalia and the bottle of piss-juice and said a nurse would be right with me.
A few minutes later, she came back with a second, much bigger bottle of piss-juice.
A few minutes later, she came back and took the big bottle and came back with two medium bottles.
Then I waited.
And I waited.
And I waited some more.

Then my doctor came back in and told me there was another change of plans.
The results from the blood draw had come back in the interim and some of the numbers weren't good.
Those numbers indicated that my kidneys aren't performing up to snuff, and that the level of diuretics they were planning on giving me might not be so prudent. They needed to do some consulting amongst themselves and would probably be sending me to the hospital after all.
They told me to sit tight and wait a few more minutes.

About 40 minutes later, they came back and told me they had decided to go ahead and do the IV piss-juice.
They also bumped the diuretic pills I was to take tonight.
They also doubled my potassium supplement.
They also wanted me to come back Friday instead of Monday as well as have another blood draw.
Oh! And while they were at it, they decided that I needed to have my pacemaker removed and replaced with model that also has a defibrillator. (I don't know it will have wi-fi or accept K-cups).

tl:dr version...

I go in Friday.
I figure they'll throw me in the hospital and try to get as much water off of me as possible over the weekend.
Then Monday (assuming they get enough fluid off), they'll slice me and do the pacemaker switch.

If they're as smart as they should be, they should sell me to the gypsies and call it a successful day.

Sorry for the wall of text, but I just wanted to pass the word along.
Wish me luck.

And a critter..

Hello everyboddeee!!!
 ^-^
='.'=

q_j, wishin' you the best ♥...(advice, advice...what's good advice for someone going into hospital...)

If this isn't going to be a drive-by, take your own pillow. The hospital pillows are designed by Torquemada for easy cleaning, not comfort.
And you can only get away with blaming "post-anesethesia fog" for so much before they start catching on that you are mischief incarnate...

Sending my Dad's hot toddy to lilyspad...jigger of whiskey, tblsp lemon juice, honey and hot water.
Won't cure what ails ya, but you won't notice it quite so much... ;-)

For those of you who are also dieting...I got something called Premier Protein Shakes at Costco (they're in the pharmacy department). They come in chocolate and vanilla; 160 calories and 30 grams of protein. This helped me IMMENSELY with the "I'm so hungry I'm going to kill someone and eat them!" grumpies...
I mix them 1:1 with whole milk (hey, just because I'm dieting doesn't mean I have to give up EVERYTHING nice). The vanilla has a very strong flavor...I prefer the chocolate, but YMMV.

Fifty lbs down since January...must be doing something right...but those Weight Watcher and Special K commercials that show happy women dancing around cos they supposedly lost weight...
They LIE.
My body is saying "Dude, WTF are you DOING to me?!" and doesn't believe me when I say "Trust me, it's for your own good...you'll thank me later. Really."

Good morning Caturday people!  It's another wonderful day here in techno-operations land, where we make sure everyone can get their kittehs captioned and their good wishes sent (when we feel like it, offer only good as long as bills are paid, not my rule)

Thread might be short enough I can actually think to say things for specific peoples.  Here we go!

Syzygy: Best advice I've ever heard for folks going to the hospital was this: get out as quick as possible.  Then again, the only other advice I ever got about hospitals was: "Try to avoid needing to go there", so either one really works.  Also, wtg on weight loss.  Wish I could pull that off, but I'm at the point of "I'm not shedding pounds, so I'll focus on making the pounds I do have look better"

q_j: You get all better now.  In the words of my favorite coworker (the one who laughs when I refer to her as the "Chemical formula for hatred"): "You get better nao!"

tigerose: Also wtg on weight loss

RWDA: I'd send you some of our rain, but we need it for a day of 2.  Could I interest you in our upcoming weekend snowfall though?  Also, lolcat exam question answer is D, "Elenbity-seben an forty cheezburger - wit baycon".  Cheezburgers is always the answer.

Ok, enough for now, time to try to "work" and not "sleep"

Oh, noes! :-( I'm so sorry that's happening to you. I sometimes wish when they decide to do horrible things they wouldn't tell us about it first. That way you could be all "Oh, hey. What's up, doctor dudes?" and they could say something like, "Oh, not much, Mr Jellyroll. We're going to give you this here shot for ....um, your health. Yes, this is definitely for your health" and then the next thing you know you're waking up in recovery. I think the stress of knowing what they're going to do days in advance doesn't help sometimes.

My advice for going to the hospital is to bring your own pepper mill and hot sauce. The food in those places can be rather bland and you need to eat healthfully to recover. If it were me, I'd bring an assortment of finishing salts as well, but in your case that would probably make them really mad, so yeah, don't do that.

Good Meowning! thank you q_j for the update. Sending prayers! I would almost suggest you bring a bottle of foaming hand soap. For your nurses. Smells nice, and won't dry the skin? They will be eager to use it. :)

Need to go shower and start getting into my outfit. Shoes go on first!

Morning! Still trying to decide if I should go in today. I have lots to do at work, but don't want to spread whatever this is to anyone else. UGH.

Go to the local clinic for something to help relieve the sinus pressure and bring down your fever. Work will still be there tomorrow, I promise.

Stay home and take care of yourself. It won't do you any good to wear yourself out and making it worse.
You could try this old fashioned cure all.

Well heeeeelllloooo Caturday!
Been up since 4:45am (BAH!).  Had to drive the mister to the train station so he could set out for his business trip.....  Suppose a 10 min drive to train station beats an hour drive to Boston/airport....

Buster's been keeping his eye out for Caturday...
