Whomever forgot to pay the bribe will most likely find their head sundered from their body

Would it have been that onerous to just fill out the paperwork, pay the duties, and ship the stuff legally? 68,000 tons. That's a lot of fuel to get the product to the boat, in the boat to get it across the Pacific, and more fuel to get it back again.

It's a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty! [/chanty]

If your main operation is illegal drugs, I doubt you're to keen on red tape for the rest of your operations.

As well as smuggling iron ore, the Knights Templar are also one of the main suppliers of methamphetamines to the United States.

This is a very complicated case. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind limber.

Limes, avocados, iron ore, I love how they're diversifying.

I see the gold miners hunting for land that pays $50 per cubic yard, meanwhile coal and iron goes for about the same but comes in seams with millions of cubic yards. I came to these figures after the alaskans tested the Atacama shore and found the dirt was only good for $10 a yard.

DRTFA...Was the iron ore for making dull axe heads used to butcher their rivals?

That's pretty much all I know about Mexican drug cartels these days. Basically animals that walk upright.

You ship 68,000 tons and what do you get?

Another day older and deeper in debt.

Tonne subby, not ton.  Metric, yo.

That said, quick search finds iron ore price/tonne ~$105

~$7 mil is nothing to scoff at.

Ah. I thought tonne was just Brit-speak for ton. Superfluous letters and all that.

wildcardjack: Limes,

Limes, that was a smart move. Had to think about the decline of US lime production. Now the price is sky high.

/I wonder how big of an illegal mine you could have in the US before people started saying something?

I don't get it.  China is the largest iron producer on the planet.  Why would they be importing iron?  Unless it was iron laced with cocaine or something.

They are also the largest consumer of iron, presumably demand exceeds their domestic supply.

No. It must be iron laced with thermite. That way China can build their own buildings where they can collapse them at any time to create their own 9/11. Study it out.

Also keep in mind a lot of iron ore is used as collateral for loans in China's legitimate as well as "Shadow banking" system.  Often times the same ore is reused several times as collateral to different companies and individuals.  Since there is a credit crunch that could cause a serious problem for a lot of major companies coming down the road, it doesn't surprise me that they would want to buy some black market iron ore to bolster their supplies and/or get more loans.

Makes you wonder if the cartels decided to switch focus from drugs start mining ore all by themselves.  China always needs resources and a destabilized country on our southern border probably gives Xi a boner when thinking about it.

The legal pot business in America has ruined the cartel's largest profitable business.

Much less profitable. Very processed and many middlemen to be paid. Pot was their go to profit business, now it's gone.

Except the ore is being illegally extracted, hence illegal ore. You can't file paperwork on shiat you are stealing and the Chinese don't give a shiat where or how illegal resources are once it hits their shores.
