This is life in John Roberts' America.  If these are the rules, then there is no hypocrisy in the Dems playing by those rules even if they acknowledge the rules are farked up.  At some point, the rules need to be changed, but until then, it would be suicide for the Dems to give the GOP a fundraising advantage just to stand on principle.

it's true that democrats tend to be morally superior to republicans.

Another difference is that the Dems didn't invent the technique or stack the SCOTUS to legalize it.

When I play Monopoly she insists that $500 be placed in the middle of the board and anyone who lands on "Free Parking" collects it and the bank replaces it.  This is not an official rule and I'm not sure if I like the rule or not but you can be damn sure I will take the $500 when I land on free parking when I play my sister.

There was a fark-linked article in I think the New Yorker about 8-10 months ago that spoke to the difference between the northern and southern wealthy. Basic jist was that northerners (democrats) were more philalanthropic, trying to improve society while the southerners (republicans) were wanting a plantation style society. I think this ideology still plays out today.

I think it was the New Yorker, but my google-fu is weak today. It's a great read if anyone remembers it and can find it.

I don't know of any modern day Melons or Carnegies, but I would point to democratic efforts to raise the minimum wage and republican efforts to block it.

That hasn't been true for a while, really. Both sides are definitely politicians, there's no point in arguing about that, but the pattern since Obama has been elected is that Democrats propose attempts to fix genuine problems. Then Republicans deny the problems exist or sink the legislation based upon a bloody-minded insistence on denying Obama anything at all that could be construed as a victory, even if they do genuine and identifiable harm to the country in so doing.

It would be nice if the Democrats were even a quarter as liberal as they're regularly accused of being, but in my life, since I was old enough to pay attention to politics, the pattern has been that Republican administrations start wars, screw things up, and run up the national debt, which forces a subsequent Democratic administration to do all it can to clean up after them. That's resulted in my being generally predisposed towards the Democrats, even with all their shortcomings.

I like how all these forward thinking Dems are so busy saying how different from them hated GOPs while not realizing the DNC has their hands so far up their asses that they don't realize how much of a puppet they actually are. And anyone that doesn't agree with them? They're stinkin' Tea Partiers! Fascists! Anything but people that, you know, would prefer to do something for a change instead of pointing and laughing at stupid people because some guy with a D next to their name told them to.

You obviously listen to too much right wing talk radio.  You made no coherent point in the above statement.  Limbaugh would be proud of you.  He does the same thing all the time.

The fact is, a very high percentage of people want common sense gun reform, immigration reform, a higher minimum wage, and so on.  The Republicans are blocking all of it.  Yeah, I'd say the Democrats have the higher moral ground.  The question is, will Republicans ever get tired of being on the wrong side of history?

The answer is no.  They would have by now.  It takes a special type of dedication (ignorance) to constantly vote against your own interests.

Yesterday a gimlet-eyed Ken Vogel of Politico took a deep sniff of snuff, shook out his lace cuffs and declared to no one in particular that the Democratic Party's wealthy benefactors are all hypocrites and liars. Then he sighed dramatically, flounced over to a gilded Louis the XIV loveseat and threw himself upon it in despair. Why oh why can no one see the truth as only he can? The burden of such knowledge is exhausting.
