Didn't I see a similar story about them contracting Zero Motorcycles to build essentially the same thing (except 100 percent electric)? Sounds like a better bet to go full electric. You're probably not going to need to drive the thing hundreds of miles, so why add the weight of an ICE and fuel tank?.

The hybrid electric engine will be built by Legos Technologies.

Makes sense, with how quiet and powerful electric bikes are.

And i like how they made them hybrids so big oil doesn't feel left out.

Maybe they can come up with a hovering version so scouts can drive it in thick forests and stuff.

Battery weight/capacity vs. vehicle performance/range ratios.

Read an article a few months ago about Zero Motorcycles building them one for testing. Honestly did not know that the tech had come far enough along to make it viable. After reading that article I have done a fair amount of research on Zero Motorcycles products and next time I am in San Diego, El Paso or Las Vegas I plan to stop by a dealership.

Yeah but Brammo actually cares enough about the riding experience to offer a real, honest to god transmission.

They all look like lukewarm ass compared to the Mission Motors RS.

The Pentagon needs to wake up and start funding stealth train technology. Clean, reliable, efficient, and part of any good multimodal bomb transportation network. Plus, trains already operate below enemy radar, so you wouldn't even have to worry about that.

When I initially started looking Brammo did not offer an off road and or a dual sport version unless that has changed. I am interested in buying a dual sport just as a commuter since I know a back way to my work that is primarily crappy dirt roads and about 2 miles off road through the desert. Would shave about 20 minutes off my commute to work.

I think my favorite end scene from any movie was in this one.  Right at the end, he's down on the ground near the edge of a cliff, the bad guy's about to shoot him, and an helicopter comes flying up over the cliff and the blades hit the bad guy.  All that is left of him after is a tattered pair of cowboy boots.

I know, the physic are unpossible, but when your twelve you don't let physic interfere with enjoyment of a good scene.

Yea, Brammo seems to be sticking with standard and sport-standard style bikes. I swear I've seen KTM teasing some electric dual sport somewhere as well..

Their R&D in Scotts Valley, CA is right on the corner of the street I work on, next door to my office. I have to cut across their parking lot when I walk to the local corner quick-stop for my caffeine. They are always racing their prototypes down our street. There's never any traffic, so the police let them be - usually. They've almost hit me a few times though.

So that movie's been sitting in my Netflix queue for years.  Seeing it here prompted me to look it up on Wikipedia and re-evaluate whether it's worth a damn (short answer: no).  I was impressed to see the date the guy goes back to is November 5th, 1975, which is of course 20 years to the day after Doc Brown invented the Flux Capacitor.  Impressive that both movies would have picked that particular date. It could mean that that point in time inherently contains some sort of cosmic significance. Almost as if it were the temporal junction point for the entire space-time continuum. On the other hand, it could just be an amazing coincidence

Electric makes a whole lot of sense with this one.

Batteries for normal operations.  The operation base could have a bunch of these on chargers, solar or otherwise, to be swapped with depleted batteries from returning bikes.

Some kind of fuel cell thingie for missions beyond the range of the batteries, but still all-electric.  It could even be a gas generator that makes noise, most "stealth" operations are only buttoned up for a small part of the overall mission.  The generator can be discarded (or cached somewhere) once no longer needed, like an aircraft wing-tank, if the mission calls for it.

Last-resort roll-up flexible solar panels for totally depleted batteries far from base where the rider can lay low for a couple days and wait to recharge.  These things are lightweight and store easily in tubes.

I rode an electric bike (15 mph slow one) at Burning Man that the owner said went seven miles on a battery smaller than a brick.  He'd built it out of parts from a kids electric motorcycle toy.  While still a toy, I was very impressed with the power and speed it did make from the toy battery.  It seemed very possible to scale it up for road use.

Electric power is the future, and the military knows it.

The stealth is just a nice freebie.
