If all these elitist horse breeders weren't doing the world a service by keeping horses around for when we need them after the zombie apocalypse, I would take serious umbrage with this activity.

AND DRINK - I have never been any place with more free flowing alcohol than the Kentucky Derby. NASCAR, NFL tailgating, hockey games, AC/DC concert, nothing even comes close. Great party.

How do thoroughbreds run so fast?  Mafia horse whisperers with cattle prods.

See you at the track.

Juleps are the same as any mixed drink - they're only as good as the ingredients and time taken to making them. I've had god awful ones and spectacular ones.

The prudent player would throw a little insurance bet on the 19. I'm not going to let Calvin Borel derail my wagers.

I can't tell you the number of times he's done that to me at Louisiana Downs.

I drop 20 bucks on the 5 post position to win every year (since at least 1994.) Only War Emblem was a big winner for me, and I don't think I've ever had the favorite until this year, so I'm eyeballing exactas and trifectas. Ride on Curlin would be a good bet to show, I think.

Oh yea, that's the truth. I had an 8 year stretch of sitting in the infield for the Derby, an amazing party was had every year there. Our usual plan was to tailgate in the Cardinal Stadium parking lot for 3-4 hours and then head in to watch the debauchery unfold. Sadly, I don't think I can keep up that level of partying anymore.

Rigging of horse races is not uncommon. It even happens at the Derby.
