Huh, I didn't realize Pharrell Williams was 40 years old!

As to Cee-Lo, I could totally see him doing that song. I wonder if we'll ever get a chance to hear his take on it?

2014-05-01 12:00:59 PM
I have never heard this song. I think I'll skip it entirely.

I thought it WAS him when I first heard it.

Cee-Lo couldn't do the song because he can't clap his hands with his tiny little arms.

Angry Drunk Bureaucrat: I totally misunderstood this headline.

It painted an ugly picture for me as well. I'm assuming it was intentional.

This song came on the radio and my kid started yelling, "Where is Minions?".

Yup. Mine was in the back seat and said "I like this song. It's the miniman (sic) song!"

Must be how Bruno Mars felt after "fark You" became a huge hit...

It's catchy as all hell and there are definitely worst things you could listen to. But if that's a hit so that the latest Will-I-Am abortion isn't, I would prefer to listen to Happy.

I actually always think of Gnarls Barkley when I hear this song.  I had assumed Pharrell ripped HIM off.

Also, that song is going to kill me this year. I can't farking get away from it.

LOL..my son does the same thing. To him, it will always be the 'minion' song

Cee Lo didn't GIVE the song to Pharrell, Pharrell wrote the song and Cee Lo didn't want to use it.   Small distinction. I thought it was Cee Lo singing it at first, too.

This is my face when Happy plays on the radio:

Becoming a judge on one of these singing competition shows is sort of like being a square on Hollywood Squares used to be, only for washed up musicians rather than washed up actors.

Whoever it is, it sounds like they're doing a Curtis Mayfield impression.

I don't like that song. To my ear it doesn't have a "happy" melody at all.

I've never heard it either. The key is to never tune in to the type of media outlet or to be in the type of place where it is played.

He also co-wrote and co-produced Rump Shaker by Wreckx-N-Effect in the early 90s.  I'm surprised he's as young as he is.

That would be more impressive if it weren't a rip-off of a song that came out two months prior.

It's cute and catchy and everything.  But typically played to a farking bloody pulp and now I have an earworm that's making me want to go on a three state killing spree.

I'd have more to say if Fark listened to the music I listened to. I understand though. Most people haven't heard of the bands I listen to.

I know you didn't ask me, but I was lured in by the intriguing headline and then after reading all these comments about how the song is overplayed, inescapable and how they just wish it would stop, etc. I felt inclined to comment because I am living proof it is possible to not have to hear it ever.

He was almost the third Outkast member.

The guy has had himself a pretty good career complete with some near misses.
