Huh? Actually available? You know that you're not limited to what's in the magazines in the waiting area, right? You can tell them to do whatever you want then to do and they'll do it. The only limit is your own imagination.

No argument there. We also would have accepted Gia era Jolie. She made being a strung out heron addict hot. And she was very naked. And made out with the chick from Lost. No, the other one.

Actually, my reaction was quite the opposite - I find her more attractive in the bottom pic, with shorter hair. Just goes to show the subjectivity of physical attraction, I guess.

She's younger in the bottom pic, but IMO the matronly hair doesn't work.

Apparently it IS subjective. :-)

Gulper Eel: moothemagiccow: It's called trichotillomania.

Which suuuuucks. I had a girlfriend with the condition. I used to think it was hot as hell that she wore her hair up...you know, that whole sexy-schoolmarm/librarian thing...until she told me  why she wore her hair up.

Luckily for her the compulsion somehow went away on its own. I attribute it to her getting me out of her life and marrying a normal male of the species.

I think I have that condition, but I'm over 50 so there's plenty of hair in my nose and ears to keep my compulsion busy 24x7.  It's a never ending battle.  I'm fully convinced that there's something in a middle-aged man's ear wax that causes rampant hair growth.  If you could harvest that stuff, you could cure baldness forever!  Of course, it'd cover your head in short wiry hairs, but a tennis ball is better than a cue ball.

And why all the fawning over women with short hair when farkers say all the time that they don't want a woman that looks like a 12 year old boy?

Yep - I think the thing on which to focus is that, let's face it, we'd both enjoy her attentions. I'd gratefully disappoint that woman, regardless of hair length.

I have pretty much had short hair my whole life. I cut it myself when I was 4 and managed to be unattended long enough around scissors to chop some off.

1) I am quite short. I really don't think short women look good with long hair. 2) I am impatient and, therefore, lack the patience to grow it out or, if I did grow it out, to deal with long hair. 3) I'm middle-aged now and don't care. 4) My hair used to be very thick but it isn't any more.

Boxingoutsider: Almost universally women look better with long hair. Even the super cute little women with cute little hair cuts would probably look better with longer hair. Only a very select group of women can pull off short hair.

Thank you for pointing out the derp.  I am female and at the moment I have hair about halfway down my back, but there are times when I got tired of fooling with it and just got it cut off.  You farkers who think a bob haircut = lesbo are stupid jerkoffs; we wouldn't be interested in you anyway.

The way I figure it is it doesn't matter.  From personal experience young women with short hair have had some sort of traumatic incident where their hair was used against them.  Such as held down and by their hair while being raped.  So they keep it short so it cannot happen again.

Middle aged women don't need to be attractive anymore so they go short for ease of care and as a subconscious statement to the world that they're no longer willing to find a man regardless of whether or not they're married.

Old women can't afford that much blue dye for long hair

Undoubtedly! If you haven't seen it, 'Exit to Eden' shows her off very well. You'll have to ignore Dan Aykroyd and Rosie O'Donnell but that's a small price to pay.

PunGent: LewDux: Short hair on women goes against Bible and natural order of things "Does not nature itself teach you that if a man wears long hair it is a disgrace for him, but if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair is given to her for a covering" 1 Corinthians 11:3-15

I suspect you're kidding, but imho, people who ACTUALLY conflate "the Bible" and "the natural order of things" should be legally required to get all their medical care from Biblically-approved providers.  And they will be stoned to death if caught in cotton-poly blends.

When I'm emperor, there will only be one rule regarding religions:  No cherry picking.

Here's the problem with the "no cherry picking" rule: it would have to apply to all cultural/social phenomena in order to be consistent (and thus avoid being a cherry picked rule against cherry picking), and in doing so it would basically shut down all of religion, culture, law, and science. It would necessarily lead to a static, ultra-orthodox way of life, and would defeat the very purpose of culture, which allows humans to be flexible, to negotiate, and to adapt.

Also, short hair is hot on some women... but not everybody has a face for it.

You decide.

I showed this to my nine year old with the tangled hair half way down her back. She was unmoved.

I keep overcoming an urge to grab scissors instead of a brush when she asks me to help her with it.

I cut my hair because I like it, not because it turns on my husband or anybody else. Though my most recent cut actually was in solidarity with another woman. A friend is going through chemotherapy right now and will be bald all summer. I'm one of many, many others who have gone bald with her so that she wouldn't have to do it alone.

/soon as my hair comes back it's mohawkville for me!

Except not really. When she had long hair, she looked good. Whether or not you're a psychotic poor parent who is nuttier than a fruit cake has nothing to do with how good you look. The labeling of everyone as a troll is tired. Really tired.

I'm an over 40 woman with long hair - almost touches my bra strap. I love it. The men I date love it. It's curly so I can blow it out smooth or air dry it and leave it curly and bouncy.

I do spend a small fortune on maintenance: good products, good tools, good stylist, good color, etc. Totally worth it. Why not present the world the best version of yourself?

So, see? Not all "middle aged" women (what's middle aged these days???) have given up and don't care about looking good or being attractive to men.

That's partly due to her facial expression, which makes her look like she's having a stroke.

hear, hear!

much the same here - i do not spend on products or color and am okay with what seems to be coming in silver rather than grey.

if i seem to have "given up" while at the grocery it may be due to marriage and not age or lesbianism - i am not on the prowl. also, stop insisting it must take hours to braid hair - it takes 3 minutes
