SpdrJay: A Mohawk is a statement in hairstyles.

This other crap is just fashion trend BS.

Man, there was a guy in my HS who rocked a two foot tall, straight up mohawk.  Used glue to hold it up.  Died it crazy colors.  The girls freakin loved it too.

Then the faux-hawk became trendy, guys spent 30 seconds in the morning throwing wax in their hair and his ho-entourage scooted over to the dark side.

Point is, I think the only people who care this much about hair are still in high school.

I have thick hair. When it shiats me, I cut it off.

A couple of years ago, it shiat me. So I cut it off. And then very quickly, women started hitting on me and alot of guys assumed I was a lesbian (this is the first time I've been single with a pixie).

I started growing it back in about September last year. The teasing from my friends has been relentless and brutal. Due to my masculine jawline and the current state of my hair, my friends are referring to me as the Beebs.

And fark that about short hair being less maintenance - its way more maintenance. To keep it looking decent you need to get haircuts every six - eight weeks. When my hair was long, I could easily go 6 -12 months without a hairdresser going near it.

I cut my hair after our second child was born, eventually to a short bob/not quite a pixie. It was actually more difficult to maintain & style than long hair. I'm back to long hair and will never cut more than the split ends again. Long hair has near-infinite styling options while being incredibly easy to maintain. Eat well, drink lots of water, and use good products.

Amongst the female naval officers I know (my wife is a Navy nurse, so I know plenty), this phenomenon is known as "the Commander Cut." Once a woman hits O-5, something clicks I their heads and their hair gets lopped into a bob.

Not sure if it's a compulsion or a having thing, but I haven't met one yet that hasn't done it.

vinniethepoo: My wife started getting clipper cuts a couple of months ago. Number 1 setting on the clippers. Pretty much the same as a buzz cut, actually.

The men where she works kind of tease her and call her "that bald woman" but the other women admire her bravery, as well as the comfort level. (It must be a real biatch wearing your hair long in a hot, tropical climate.)

/I get buzz cuts too.
//Haircut and a beard trim, $1.25.
///Slashies are free.

I get my hair buzzed because most of it has fallen out already anyway.

IMO, women ALL look BETTER with longer hair (shoulder length). Sure some can pull off the short cut, but even THEY look better with longer hair.

/ YMMV

Which suuuuucks. I had a girlfriend with the condition. I used to think it was hot as hell that she wore her hair up...you know, that whole sexy-schoolmarm/librarian thing...until she told me  why she wore her hair up.

Luckily for her the compulsion somehow went away on its own. I attribute it to her getting me out of her life and marrying a normal male of the species.

There's a million women at my job that cut it super short around 40 and basically goto into "I don't care how I look" mode for the rest of their lives. Even after divorces. They're just done with trying to look good. Its kind of an amazing phenomenon really.

I tell them that (if they're in shape and have a decent pair) they look like teenage boys with boobs.

They argue, deny, et al. Then I tell them to put on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and take a picture of them from behind. After seeing it, they reluctantly agree: they only are visible as women because of a bit of frontal fat.

Usually ends the bob or pixie cut.

If you have very thick, wavy hair like yours truly then long hair is easier to maintain.  Just twirl that amorphous mass into a bun and call it a day.  Short hair has to be blow-dried and styled to look good.

The only girls that look good in a pixie or bob haircut are the ones that already are very hot and can get away with it because they have enough other pretty features to look at.

If you aren't hot, then hair is something that can be used to soften up an image.  I for one, love running my hands through a soft, beautiful set of hair.

I suspect you're kidding, but imho, people who ACTUALLY conflate "the Bible" and "the natural order of things" should be legally required to get all their medical care from Biblically-approved providers.  And they will be stoned to death if caught in cotton-poly blends.

Meh. Do whatever makes you happy. But I don't find short hair on women to be attractive. I like long hair. It is always an individualized thing for each person, but in general I prefer hair to be down to the middle of her back. Bob, pixie, and other short cuts just aren't attractive to me. Yay for doing whatever you personally want. That can be a nice, attractive personality feature. But as a physical feature, no. Halle Berry, Emma Watson, et al all look better with long hair.

On the subject of women's hair, blond doesn't do it for me either. For me, it's

natural red>dyed unnatural colors>black>brown>>>>>blond>>>>>bleach blond

As an aside, women that I have been close with who did have long hair damn near never wore it down. It was always pulled back tight or otherwise kept high and immobile. A big part of long hair's attraction is when it's able to flow and move. If she's on bending over, leaning, on top of me, etc I want it to fall around her. Having shoulder-plus length hair but always keeping it tied up and high kinda defeats the point of having it. If having long hair is so burdensome to you that you never keep it at full length then just cut it to the length that you do keep it at.

Her facial structure really lends itself well to short hair. I don't think it would work quite as well now, with her lips being larger. Hackers era Angelina Jolie is best Angelina Jolie.

Instead, she decided to look at pictures of ...

Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie look amazing irrespective of hair length, so there is no real difference between the long/short states. It's the same with Winona Ryder.

She gets her hair cut for locks of love every 2 years, and gets a pixie cut at that time.
At that point her hair is down to her waist, and very thick.

Actually, my reaction was quite the opposite - I find her more attractive in the bottom pic, with shorter hair. Just goes to show the subjectivity of physical attraction, I guess.
