To really appreciate Truman Capote's Harper Lee's masterpiece, you have to have grown up a Southern liberal.

Scaraine?

The book is loosely based on the authords experiences growing up in the 1930's and an actual event that happened at the time. It's apparenlty considered a moreimportant book to read then the bible.

A good book and worth reading, but "Greatest American Novel"?  I sure hope not.

It's no Huckleberry Finn

I'm not a fan of To Kill A Mockingbird. Too much tapping, no real strategy, and the game's a Super Mario ripoff with all those green pipes.

Here in Missouri, it's a pretty common book to do in 8th or 9th grade.

The Hunger Games series? Man we're going downhill...

It uses real words, and in real sentences.
It expects you to remember what you read four pages ago instead of using constant reminders and flashbacks.

There is no way kids today will read this, or even be able to read it.

This Mockingbird game sounds interesting. Do you get points for killing other birds or just mockingbirds? Conversely, if you kill a rare songbird, do you lose points because it is not a mockingbird? I think you should get bonus points for killing a bird that is imitating the sound of a telephone.

I think this game would be a great way to learn to recognize birds by their calls as well as their flight profiles and appearance.

I wonder if you could get Audubon to let you use their collection of bird calls.

In England they could replace mockingbirds with cuckoos. Since they, like mockingbirds, are parasitic birds who lay eggs in other birds nests, you could probably make the point of the game population control.

Do cats, dogs or pigs also have a place in this game? I will leave that up to the game writers.

FTFA: "Translated into more than 40 languages, "To Kill a Mockingbird" -- about racism in the Great Depression-era South -- won the Pulitzer Prize in 1961."

I see the reporter took Literature for Communications Majors (AMLIT 099). The book has a criticism of racism as a major theme, but the book is about so much more than this. Harper Lee depicted the racists just as all other Southerners do: white trash, who are a blight on the community.

I'm surprised that this book isn't in the public domain, and that it took this long to officially e-bookify it.

Can anyone give me a good reason why copyright on a printed work should be any longer than (and I'm drawing a line in the sand here) 50 years?
