Well there's no profit in that.

I pretty much assumed that the majority of drugs in prison get there through guards.

Prison guards are there to make sure the prisoners don't hurt other inmates and that they stay where they are put. I don't think drug addition counseling is in their job description.

a quote that appears nowhere in the article is acceptable for a headline?

from other articles: he is not a prison guard, he is a kitchen supervisor.

he was busted on his personal time, outside of his place of employment.

he was not a prison guard dealing to the inmates.

derp headline gets the auto-green.

I'm the guy who can get things for you. Cigarettes -- a bag of reefer, if that's your thing -- sipping whiskey, playing cards with naked ladies on them...

Welcome to the other side of the bars. I hope you weren't a dick to the inmates.

I see someone already commented on "suppose to."

/Don't get me started on "less then" or "would of."

Yeah PennLive has become a cesspool of third-party javascripts ever since the Patriot-News merger/restructuring.

Well, neither is Dealing drugs, but that doesn't seem to stop a number of them.

CSB:
I used to visit a friend who was on the other side for doing drugs, being caught with drugs.
I'm talking the hard stuff.
In one of the visits, towards the end of the guy's sentence, I mention how after release the temptation might be there to go after the stuff now that he'd have access....
My friend actually laughed in my face and said "R.M., I can get more stuff here than outside, should I have wanted to"

Dead a couple of years after that.
I'm still not sure if it was an OD or a freak accident.

/guess not so CSB.

Pretty much.  Prison investigations like to make a big deal about any "shoved drugs/a cellphone up his ass" story they can, mostly because it deflects attention from how 90% of contraband gets in ($8.95/hour guards who flunked out of the TSA training program).

Still got special treatment.

You think a civilian charged with dealing crack would have released with unsecured bail?

Well of course that's how the drugs are getting in.  The guards have a monopoly on those addicts, since they can easily bust anyone moving in on their racket, then have yet another customer.  Difficulties, guards are usually the police applicants who wasn't smart enough to be cops, and guards don't always cover up for each other the way police do.

Walker: Well there's no profit in that.

Sure there is, if you don't ever get caught.  Some of the gang members in prison are taken care of while doing their time, so they got coin for drugs and any other comforts of home.

That isn't always the case. A lot of times the reason the officer continues to bring in contraband is because the first time he does, the inmates own him. Either way is corrupt and the officer is fired, but the motivation is often fear, and not always financial gain. Sadly, it happens way too often. We are supposed to be the good guys and act accordingly.
