False imprisonment, brandishing a firearm, impersonating a LEO... how many felonies can they get per hour?

Maybe someone will stand their ground.

It sounds like the local sheriff is a bit of a chickenshiat.

I'd be amused if black bloc or some other anarchist collective moved in to stir shiat up.

No, that is not how "America roles," you chickenhawk chickenshiat ...

According to Horsford, his constituents say the militia have set up checkpoints where residents must prove they live in the area before they are allowed to pass

And the police aren't doing anything about this?  Maybe there is some unarmed liberal group they have to pepper spray.

This is a bit of a no-win situation for the local authorities.  Move in and risk armed conflict?  That's bad PR.  Do nothing?  Also bad PR.

Actually, the rule of law is the win, and you don't ignore sh*t like this because of "Bad PR."  That's like ignoring a tumor because you don't want a surgery scar.

Couldn't the same pretty much be said for any instance of illegal conduct being undertaken by a group of lawless people?  How is this any different?

Exactly. If they block the car in, break out the video. Get faces on camera and stay calm. Call the cops.

File a civil rights lawsuit when you're done.

I dunno. They seem to have zero worries about dolling up in riot gear and pepper spraying unarmed hippies.

Heh.

"No cow justifies the atmosphere of intimidation which currently exists nor the limitation of constitutional rights that are sacred to all Nevadans," Sandoval, a Republican, said. "The BLM needs to reconsider its approach to this matter and act accordingly."

LULZ

Clearly Mr. Sandoval is as stupid as Bundy's cows. Perhaps, even, almost as stupid as good 'ol Cliven himself.

Well sure, but this guy has a following and it's been made VERY public.  He has a lot of sympathizers, which complicates things a bit.

If it helps, Tom Delay (yes, THAT Tom Delay) also came out in support of the whackaloon rancher, even going as far so as to support his "sovereignty."

So, Sandoval is in good company for sure.

I have a hard time imagining a situation in which this won't end up with bloodshed.

It's pretty clear the BLM abandoned the standoff to avoid a Waco-type situation.  I think it was conventional wisdom that they believed they could give it time, things would die down, and they'd go in and get Bundy with little fanfare.

But Bundy obviously knows this.  He has a vested interest in continually ramping things up to keep the crazies engaged.  As soon as he feels that his "protection" might be dwindling, he has motivation to do more and more outrageous things to keep his folks around.

This won't end well.

Most definitely true, and yet his toolishness is only a small fraction of that of his retarded toolbag predecessor in that office.

And how many of those crazies brought the family along for the fun?  There could be a lot of women and children in there.  Waco was a fiasco that should serve as a learning experience.

As of right now, what kind of charges is Bundy facing?

Obviously there's still the seizure and sell-off of his cattle that has to happen to pay back the delinquent fees and charges, but what else?

He's not going to get away with this, period. There's no way the situation can escalate to this point and then the authorities cut him a deal.

Unless he's offered a deal so that there's no bloodshed.

Hmmm......

This.

I feel you cannot be heavy handed enough with people who arm themselves and attempt to provoke an armed confrontation with law enforcement. This is a form of treason and should be dealt with accordingly.

I feel like the feds are farked either way. These crazies think they're gonna die in a blaze of glory yelling "FREEEEEDOM", but CNN is going to roll pictures of dead civilians and sad, empty, hoverrounds.

Then there's the people who will say "all this for cows?" ignoring the fact that these people have basically set up an armed insurrection in a US State, and are attempting to force a coup d'etat.

I'd be all for sending in an FBI/ATF strike team to either arrest or shoot the lot of them that are causing this, if not for the fact that they've already publicly stated their intent in a confrontation is to use the women as human shields.

Still, at a certain point the government will need to cut its potential losses in PR and just move in to end this.

Not that it shouldn't piss you off but those type of police beat-downs occur a mere short drive from the precinct, not way out in BFE where there's hardly anyone to be affected for miles around.

Which is ultimately what will happen, but they're going to do it at least with the intention of not having another Branch Davidian immolation.

I wouldn't feel all that bad if these clowns were treated half as bad as the OWS groups. Maybe some ACTUAL oppression would help them understand definitions and language and all that.

I said on the earlier thread that if I was in one of those 'You have 'X' days to live' situations, I'd go down and run these assholes' "checkpoints" just to see if they'd shoot me. It would mean the beginning of the end either way. They are either to chickenshiat to follow through, or they are Fark up their lives by killing me. I think it would be a win/win for sanity.

Seems like to me that these thugs have completely taken over this area and declared it as their own third world country.

Wish they'd declare secession already so we can officially General Sherman the whole damn place with napalm.
